Two PocketFivers have made it through to the final 19 players Event $1.5K Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better event. Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich and Senovio “Dorsal Fin” Ramirez will both return at 2 p.m. tomorrow to continue play until a winner has been determined.
Ramirez started the day with just 5.9K (Yesterday’s chipleader, defending champion Thang Luu, started the day with 73K.), but ended the day with an impressive 282K. Ramirez said he played tight throughout the day and his big hands held up.
“All my aces held,” he said, when asked what had led to his big day. “Every single one.”
While Ramirez said he would have liked to keep playing down to the final table, Rich seemed happy to have play halted at 3 a.m, declaring rather satisfactorily, “I’m going to bed,” after he folded his final hand of the evening.
Rich bagged 190K chips, not far off the average chip count of 217K. His stack was up-and-down all day. He took one hit late in the day in a 4-way pot preflop. The flop was A

. Seat five bet 8K and both Rich and Ruthenberg called. All three players checked the 6
on the river. Ruthenberg revealed A-2-3-3 for a set of three and the high half of the pot while seat five showed A-K-5-7 for the low pot.
Rich studied his cards for a while before mucking in disgust, saying “I can’t win.”
During the same level, Ramirez raised under the gun and was called by the player in the small blind. The flop was 9

. This time the small blind checked and Ramirez bet again. The small blind tanked before eventually showing the 9
for trip nines and mucking his cards. Ramirez showed his club flush and A-3 low before scooping the pot.
Jordan and Ramirez were seated at the same table for at the end of the night, but we didn’t see them play any significant pots. After the blinds had been raised to 5K/10K with limits of 10K/20K, Rich raised to 20K before the flop and was called by Ramirez. The flop was 9

. Rich led out for 20K, and Ramirez’s cards were in the much before he could finish counting out his bet.
We’ll be back tomorrow to follow the players until somebody wins a bracelet (and the chance to have their national anthem played over the Amazon Room’s speakers during the bracelet ceremony the following day).
