Ramirez Out Of PLO Hi-Low Event by Rachel on 06.25.09, 10:43 pm

Senovio “Dorsal Fin” Ramirez (pictured at left), who made the final table of one limit Omaha Hi-Low event this World Series and finished 12th in the $5K PLO Hi-Low event, had just sat down next to his good friend Chris “SKOAL” Falconer and was looking forward to playing with him in a live setting instead of just online, but his plans came to a screeching halt after the following hand transpired:  Ramirez started the hand with around 13K and the blinds at 200/400 when he opened for a raise to 1.1K, another player raised to 3.5K, and Ramirez called.  The flop came down Q53 and Senovio grabbed all of his big denomination chips and placed them in the middle for a pot sized bet.  The other player re-potted, which was enough to put Ramirez all-in.  Here is what each player held:

Ramirez: AQ22 for a pair of queens, with the nut low draw
Opponent: AA96 an overpair of aces

The turn and river came JT which failed to put a qualifying low on the board.  The other player scooped the pot and Ramirez was railbound shortly before dinner break.

Clayton “clayton27″ Newman
made a valiant effort to grind his short stack, but he too was rail bound just minutes before dinner break began.  We caught him earlier in Level 6 when A3{4d][4c} split the pot with AKJ2 on an A72T8 board where Clayton made a low while the other player held aces up.

Kevin "bottsky" Bott (pictured at right) also got his short stack in late in this last level.  In a multiway limped pot Bott put out a pot-sized bet after the flop came T74.  It folded around to the player on the button who raised enough to put Kevin all-in for his last 800 chips.  Bott showed KT93 for top pair and the king high flush draw while the other player turned up A224 for the nut low draw.  The low hit on the turn and the two ended up chopping up everyone else's blinds and leave Bott with 3K going into dinner break.

Speaking of dinner break, here are some chip counts to tide you over until the players return from theirs at around 8:45PM ET:

Stewart "Stuman123" Yancik - 50K
Aaron Kanter - 45K
Craig "MrCasino" Gray - 35K
Trevor "DenYoungGun" Reader - 21K
Matt "SamENole" Smith - 11.5K
Jesse "Jmaster130" Cohen - 9K
Chris "SKOAL" Falconer - 5.3K

WSOP 2009 Event #45: $10K PLHE

The chips have been circling around the final table of the $10K PLHE event. Shortly after doubling through Isaac Haxton (pictured right) when his Q-J out flopped Haxton's A-8 after the two got it all-in preflop, JC "PrtyPSux" Alvarado turned around and doubled up Jason Lester once again. The pair once again got it all-in preflop with Alvarado holding AQ to Lester's superior AK. Alvarado had a bit of a sweat as the first four cards ran out JT39 to give him an open-ended straight draw. The river 5 failed to complete Jc's straight though and Lester doubled up once again.

Just a few hands later, with the blinds at 30K/60K, Isaac Haxton opened for a pot-sized raise to 210K and Davidi "legrouzin" Kitai reriased to 425K. Isaac moved all-in for 520K total and Kitai called with AQ which had Haxton's KQ in trouble. The innocuous board ran out 8{7d][2h}2J and Haxton was eliminated in 8th place.

Alvarado, in the meantime, has taken on the sole responsibility of representing Panorama Towers at the final table and responded to the pressure by doubling up thorugh Davidi Kitai shortly before dinner break when his K-10 outran Kitai’s A-J. Here are the complete chip counts of the seven remaining players who are currently on a one hour dinner break:

Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin - 1.6 million
Davidi “legrouzin” Kitai - 1.4 million
John Kabbaj - 1.3 million
JC Alvarado - 1.2 million
Kirill Gerasamov - 1.1 million
Eugene Todd - 985K
Jason Lester - 790K

WSOP 2009 Event #47: $2.5K MIXED HOLD’EM

With 29 players remaining, Eric “EFro” Froelich is hanging on to his tournament life in the $2.5K Mixed Hold’em tournament.

During the last level of limit poker, with the blinds at 2.5K/5K and the limits set at 5K/10K, Froelich raised before the flop and got one caller. The flop was JT4. The other player bet and Froelich called. The turn was the 7 and both players checked. The river was the A. Froelich’s opponent bet again and Froelich folded.

A short time later Froelich and another player saw a flop of T42. Froelich led out for a bet and his opponent raised. Froelich made the call and the turn was the J. Froelich bet again and was called. The river was the 8. Froelich checked this time and his opponent made a bet. Froelich thought for a while before mucking his hand, leaving himself crippled with just a few big bets remaining.

Froelich has taken a few pots without a showdown since and has about 50K on dinner break.

Randy “Randers” Haddox has been moving up the leader board. He has 317K at the break. Haddox recently eliminated a short stack at his table. With the limits still at 5K/10K, Haddox made a raise before the flop and the player in seat one re-raised. Haddox called and the flop was 988. The players then went on an re-raise extravaganza until the player in seat one was all in. Haddox winced when he saw the QQ of his opponent.

“Ace?” he said, tabling his A4. The turn was the 2, but Haddox got what he asked for when the A fell on the river.

Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein has slipped a bit since our last update but he’s still healthy with 210K.
