Rami “arbianight” Boukai (pictured right) made his second final table appearance of the series in Event #30 this afternoon, but this time fell short of a bracelet. Boukai was the short stack at the table when he moved all in. The action had been potted and re-potted in front of him, so Rami actually had a chance to triple up. His opponents were JC Tran and Jean-Phillipe Leandri, and Boukai was drawing very live with 8-6-5-4 against the K-J-9-7 of Tran and the A-A-Q-2 of Leandri. The Q-7-2 flop was not helpful for Rami, and he needed running straight cards to catch up. The ace on the turn kept him alive, and now with a three he would make the wheel and win the pot. The river was a king though, eliminating Boukai in 6th place. Although Rami could not win a second bracelet, he will take home $38,407.

When we walked by Peter “Nordberg” Feldman a few moments ago, he had just eliminated another player. The cards were laying face up and we tried to scribble as fast as possible, but the dealer began to wash the deck and prepare for the next hand. From what we saw though, it was a king high board and Feldman had the best of it with KQ. Peter is doing just fine, inching close to 150K in chips.
Luke “IWEARGOGGLES” Staudenmaier’s (pictured left) story is a little different. We saw Staudenmaier walk towards the rail and quickly wrote down the hands and the board. Carter “ckingusc” King then graciously narrated what happened. According to King, action folded to Luke near the button and he raised to 6K with the blinds at 1.2K/2.4K/300. A player in the blinds three-bet to 15.2K, and Staudenmaier four-bet all-in. He was called, and the hands were tabled:

Victory appeared to be in Leo “SuperfluousMan” Wolpert’s grasp when he got it all-in for John Duthie’s tournament life on a K

With less than seven big bets in his stack, Jordan “scarface_79″ Smith decided it was time to make his last stand during the 2K/4K betting limit level. We missed the preflop action, but judging by the pot size, it appeared as if Jordan opened for a raise in late position and Soheil Shamseddin called from the big blind. Shamseddin checked to Smith on the J

board and Jordan quickly bet. It didn’t take too long before Soheil called. The turn came 2
and Shamseddin once again checked to Jordan, who moved all-in for his last 4.1K. Shamseddin called and showed 2

for a pair of deuces. Jordan flipped up 4

for ten high and failed to make a higher pair on the river, so he was eliminated.
“Sick float,” Jordan said to us as he headed for the door.
While Smith may be out the door, David “Bakes” Baker appears to be recovering quite nicely since we last checked in on him. He is currently sitting with around 76K.
WSOP 2009 Event #31 $1.5K HORSE
Lana Maier has had a rough level and is down to her last 50K or so. We watched during the round of Hold’em as Bryan Micon was able to pick off a bluff from her on the river to scoop a massive pot. The very next hand Lana raised from under the gun, the player in the big blind reraised, Lana raised again, and the player called. Despite committing half her stack to the hand preflop, Maier had to abandon ship after the flop came A

. After she folded the other player flashed her the A

Every so often we get a text on our P5s Live text phone that amuses us so much we have to share. This most recent one came from Allen “AawwNutz” Carter (pictured below) and was not one, but seven texts explaining how he managed to bust out of the event. Rather than try to recap it, we’ll let Allen speak for himself:
“Might be the sickest hand of my tournament career. Finnish guy raised EVERY unopened late position possible. I had repopped a couple of times and flat called him several times. He is table leader with 25K. I’ve got 23K. Average stack prob 10K. He raised to 600 from cutoff. I reraise from SB with A2 to 1700. He calls. 10-9-2 flop. I lead 2500. He flat calls. T on turn. I plan to check shove. He donk bets 15K! I say, “at least I know you don’t have a ten.” He is incredibly nervous. I decide my 2 is good and shove for 19K. By his reaction, I think I just made one of the best reads of my career. He counts down and decides that he has to call the last 4K. He shows 8
9
for a pair of 9s. I was right he WAS bluffing. At least he thought he was. Anyways that’s how you blow a 125BB stack in a WSOP event.”
