Potter Reaches Final Table by Brett on 06.15.09, 9:55 pm

Jason “JPOSU” Potter stormed to the top of the leaderboard of the $1.5K NHE Event #28 last night and has continued to wreak havoc on his opponents this afternoon. Potter has 1.63 milion chips, good for third most with 10 players taking their seats at the final table in the Amazon Room.

Potter is attempting to make his first-ever WSOP final table. His previous best finish was 14th in another $1.5K NLHE event in 2007. His biggest live cash to this point came at the 2008 World Poker challenge for $103,030. A sixth-place finish or better today would surpass that.

Two players, Mike Eise and Rico Ramirez, have both eclipsed the 2 million chip plateau. With three players nursing short stacks we’re expecting to have an official final table of nine players soon.

2009 WSOP Event #31: $1.5K HORSE

Event #31 restarted in the Brasilia Room this afternoon and two Bryans have big stacks. Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire and Bryan Micon are both floating around 45K in chips, and are seated at the same table. With about 100 runners remaining the average is around 30K, so both Bryans have room to maneuver here on Day 2.

Peter “Nordberg” Feldman finds himself on a short stack, however. He is nursing 11K at a nearby table.

2009 WSOP Event #33: $10K LHE World Championship

The $10K Limit Holdem World Championship Event has begun in the Brasilia Room here at the Rio. While passing by we noted down some familiar faces. P5ers in the field include Eric “EFro” Froelich, Justin “BoostedJ” Smith, Brock “t_soprano” Parker, Lex “RaSZi” Velduis, Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson and Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers.

Barry Greentstein lost some chips early on. On a Q-9-7-T-5 board he called down Daniel Negreanu, but mucked when Daniel showed Q-T for top two pair. Greenstein is now slightly below the starting stack of 30K.

Shaun Deeb has started in the right direction. Deeb has padded over 10K to his starting stack and is already an early chip leader with over 40K.

2009 WSOP Event #32: $2K NLHE

Dan “Wretchy” Martin was working with a 30K stack to start Level 6 but all of those chips have been dispersed among his tablemates. First, with blinds at 150/300 a player raised to 1K with 9K behind and Martin moved all in, having him covered, and his opponent called. Martin’s pair of tens couldn’t outrace A-K and Dan lost a third of his stack. On the next hand he ran his pair of jacks into pocket queens and just like that Martin was sent to the rail.

Eric “Rizen” Lynch (pictured right) was another victim during Level 6. This time it was Lynch who got his chips in preflop with AK against an opponent’s TT and when the board ran out 75454 Lynch was eliminated.

Jon “sketchy1″ Eaton was more fortunate. Eaton just busted two players during a three way all-in. According to Eaton, he opened with 99 and two short stacks responded by going all in. Jon called, and his nines held against AQ and A3 to eliminate his opponents and bring him up to 15.5K.

Players are about to go on their dinner break. With 730 remaining and the average at 12.6K, here’s a look at some chips stacks from Event 32:
