Pot-Limit Event, 6-Max Final Table Underway by Rachel on 06.10.09, 6:52 pm

On our first walk through the $1.5K pot-limit hold’em we found Darryll “DFish” Fish, Jeremiah “Believer82″ Vinsant, Hunter “The_Hunt_D” Frey, and David “The Maven” Chicotsky all seated at the same table.

Early in the day Fish doubled through Vinsant (pictured at left) when he made a flush with his A7. Vinsant’s hand had already been mucked when we got to the table, but the talk at the table let us know that he had been ahead when all the money went in before the flop. Vinsant’s day has gotten much better as of yet. He has doubled up two other players and has fallen to around 80K in chips. After the last hit, Vinsant turned to Fish and said, “That would have never happened if you hadn’t sucked out on me.” Fish said he was glad it did in that case, and they both laughed.

Since then, that table has broken and the field has shrunk down to 49. Unfortunately, Frey is not one of the remaining players. He opened a pot for 3.9K at his new table and was re-raised to 9.4K. After some thought he moved all in and was instantly called. Frey showed 9[9h} but he was behind the other player's KK. The board of 542QJ was no help to Frey and he was eliminated.

We did our best to get the chip counts of the rest of the remaining P5ers:

Jason “TheMasterJ33″ Dewitt - 200K
David “The Maven” Chicotsky - 80K
Ravi “govshark2″ Raghaven - 43K
Jacob “bazeman” Bazeley - 40K
Phil “USCPhildo” Collins - 35K
Darryll “DFish” Fish - 30K
Joe Sebok - 25K
Scott “stsitron” Sitron - 25K

WSOP 2009 Event #22: $1.5K NLHE Shootout

The funny thing about shootout events is that you’ll see some tables who have yet to lose a player right across from tables playing heads-up. Rami “arbianight” Boukai is playing some 3-handed poker against a monster stacked opponent while Randy “Randers” Haddox’s table in Brasilia is still playing 10-handed.

We decided to take a walk around the room and see whose tables had pared down a bit and where our P5ers stood:

-JC “PrtyPSux” Alvarado is bulldozing through his now 5-handed table. We watched as Corey “comandr_cool” Burbick raised to 500 from the button with the blinds at 100/200 and Alvarado popped it up 1,550 and Burbick, who is one of the shorter stacks at the table, laid his hand down. JC is currently sitting with 22K.

-Jordan “scarface_79″ Smith is also sitting pretty at his table. They are 5-handed and Jordan is sitting pretty in the chip lead with 20K.

-Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier has 12K as his table sits with four remaining players.

-Michael “shipitthisway” McNeil is hanging around the middle of the chip counts at his 6-handed table with 12K.

-Jason “JCarver” Somerville is playing 4-handed at his table. He recently took down a nice pot when he check-called a 400 chip bet on the turn with the board reading J853 and when the Q fell on the river Jason checked once again. His opponent bet 1,050 and Jason appeared to make a crying call. He showed Q8 for a rivered two pair, which turned out to be good enough since the other player mucked. Somerville is now up to 8K.

-Jeff “YoungSupremacy” Hakim drew a fun table with Blake “Balla-B13″ Cahail and Jamie “pokerjamers’ Armstrong, but he seems to be handling the competition just fine as they played 5-handed poker. He recently chipped up when he called a short stack’s 2K all-in with AJ which had the other player’s JT in some bad shape. Jeff got a bit of a sweat as the board ran out A94Q4, but his aces up held to eliminate the player and increase his stack to 9.5K.

-Thayer Rasmussen is 3-handed at his table, but it appears that one player has the bulk of the chips while Thayer and the third player are sitting with 8K or so.

WSOP 2009 Event #19: $2.5K 6-Handed NLHE

The final table short stack Clayton “clayton27″ Newman got a much needed double up courtesy of Brock “t_soprano” Parker when he moved all-in for his last 212K with AT and Brock called with pocket sixes. Newman was able to spike an ace on the A98 flop and the turn and river came running queens to double him up to 450K while Parker dropped to 1.2 million.

WSOP 2009 Event #21: $3K HORSE

We popped into the HORSE event just long enough to peruse the room for the biggest P5er chip stacks. Here is what we found:

Mike “SirWatts” Watson - 65K
Aaron “NDGrinder59″ Steury - 42K
Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar - 37.5K
Dan “Wretchy” Martin - 33K
