WSOP 2008
Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter will look to enter the Rio the same way he departed late last night: relaxed and booming with self-confidence. The 24-year-old from Provo, Utah has been in the poker limelight before, making a pair of WPT final tables in 2005 and 2006 for a total of $553K and taking fourth in the $2.5K NLHE event at the World Series last year for a cool $140K.
Porter (pictured right) enters today’s $1.5K NLHE short-handed final table 5/6 in chips with 357K — about 30 big blinds once play begins at 2:00 PT. We wish all the luck to a long-time member of P5s and one of the great guys in poker.
The $5K NLHE Shootout and $1.5K Limit events also resume today with several online players in position to win a bracelet. Adam “Roothlus” Levy, Leo “Superflous Man” Wolpert and Tim “Tmay420″ West are part of a 36-person field broken down into six single-table sit and goes in the second round of the $5K Shootout. All players have already made their way into the money, guaranteed at least $16,920, but the $477,990 prize to tomorrow’s eventual winner is on everyone’s mind.
The $1.5K Limit event is down to 179 of the original 880 players. P5er Eric “jakz101″ Crain is 2nd in chips with 38,400. John “jdawg0913″ O’ Brien (25.7K), Gary “GB2005″ Bogdanski (18.2K), Ben “bfineman” Fineman (15.8K) and Jordan “scarface_79″ Smith (5.1K) are also among those left in the field.
We’ll be following all of these events plus the $2.5K NLHE event that just began at 12:00 PT and the inagural $10K Seven Card Stud World Championship (kicking off at 5:00 PT) here at P5sLive. Good luck to everyone playing!
