PocketFivers Make Up Half Of 6-Max Final Table by Rachel on 06.10.09, 5:25 pm

The final table is set in the $2.5K six-max no-limit hold’em event, and three of the six finalists are PocketFivers. Brock “t soprano” Parker, Clayton “Clayton27″ Newman (pictured at left) and Russell “rcrane082985″ Crane have all moved there chip stacks over the ESPN final table area and will resume play shortly.

Joe Serock, who did most of the work in eliminating players earlier, is the chip leader with almost 3.4 million chips. Unfortunately for Parker, who is second in chips with 1.47 million, Serock will be directly to his left for the duration of the event. This is a second consecutive short-handed final table for Parker, who won his first bracelet in the six-max limit hold’em event just a few days ago.

Crane and Newman are the short stacks at the final table with 472K and 266K, respectively. Crane is seated just to the right of both Parker and Serock while Newman has landed in a seat to the right of the chip leaders.

Alex Wilson (1.3 million) and Jesse Rios (1.09 million) round out the final table.

WSOP EVENT #22: $1.5K NLHE SHOOTOUT

Over in the $1.5K Shootout, we caught David “DavidP18″ Peters (pictured at right), Devin “tranquilchaos” Porter, Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby and another player in a hand with the board reading J55T. When we joined the action Peters had just made a bet of 300. Porter made the call and Hamby thought for some time before deciding to muck his hand. The player in seat two then called as well and the river was the 9. Porter checked to begin the action and seat two beat 600. Peters then moved all in for 3,025 chips more. Porter got out of the way and the action was back on seat two.

“Full house and I’m in trouble,” he said of Peter’s hand, glancing over at Peters before deciding to make the call. It turns out Peters could have even beaten a full house. He flipped over 55 for quad fives.

In the debrief after the hand, the player in seat two said he had made a king-high straight. Porter said he had folded J9 and Hamby said he was trying to figure out if his “incredibly naked” ten was any good on the turn.

Players in the $1.5K pot-limit hold’em event and the 3K HORSE event have just unbagged their chips and begun play for the day. We’ll keep an eye on those events as well as they try to reach final tables tonight.
