Play Concludes in $1.5K NLHE Day 1

Craig “MrCasino” Gray ended Day 1 of the $1.5K NLHE event on a huge upswing, crossing the 100K mark by the end of the evening. One hand toward the end of the night helped propel him up the chip counts. We missed the preflop and flop action, but we saw Gray’s opponent bet out 10K on a board reading A

T. Craig moved all-in for around 14K more and the other player called with A-J. Gray showed 4
4 for bottom set, which held when the J fell on the river, doubling Craig up to around 70K.
Lauren “locoenlaacabeza” Kling also picked up some momentum towards the end of the night. With the blinds at 1K/2K ante 100 Lauren raised in middle position to 2.5K and the player in the big blind (the same one whose aces she cracked earlier) called. The flop came down 643 and the other player checked to Kling, who bet 4.2K. After some thought the other player moved all-in for 16K total and Lauren called, having him slightly covered. Kling showed AA while the other player held 6
7 for top pair. The aces held as the turn and river ran out TA and Lauren chipped up to 48K.
Jamie “mmwawa” Kerstetter also doubled up in the last level when her AJ out-raced another player’s pocket nines to double her up to 32K She lost a little of it back to blinds and antes and ended the night with 27.7K.
