Brock “t soprano” Parker outlast 1,067 competitors in the six-handed no-limit hold’em event to win his second bracelet in only four days at the World Series. Parker won the six-handed limit hold’em event on Sunday, besting 366 others in the process.
In the final hand of his heads-up match against Joe Serock, Parker held pocket queens to Serock’s pocket tens. There were no tens on the board, but Brock did catch a queen on the river just for a little extra emphasis.
“I can’t really describe it. It doesn’t feel real,” Parker said of his amazing accomplishment shortly after his win. He cracked a few smiles while being photographed, but, frankly, he looked exhausted. Parker told us he was incredibly tired on day one of the no-limit tournament because he wasn’t able to sleep well after claiming his first bracelet. There hasn’t been much time to rest since. Parker and the other remaining players played until 3 a.m. the night before the final table, and had to return at noon so that the final table could be broadcast over the internet. Hopefully he finds it easier to get some rest the second time around.
Parker also won more than a half-million dollars for his victory, bringing his total winnings for this World Series to almost $900,000. We expect that he’ll be back at the tables soon in search of bracelet number three.
WSOP EVENT #20: $1.5K PLHE
The final table is set for the $1.5K pot-limit hold’em event. Jason “TheMasterJ33″ Dewitt and Ravi “govshark2″ Raghaven will all be back at 2 p.m. tomorrow to determine who will get the next WSOP bracelet and the nearly $200K first place prize. Dewitt will enter the final table second in chips with 467K while Raghaven will be the short stack with 145K.
Unfortunately, Phil “USCPhildo” Collins and David “DocSands” Sands didn’t make the final nine. Collins was eliminated in tenth place by eight-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel. Collins raised to 26K pre-flop and was re-raised by Seidel on the button to 75K. Collins had a little more than 100K behind and decided to move all in. Seidel made the call and turned over A
K
while Collins tabled A
J
. The flop was 9
5
3
.
“Jack ball,” requested Jason Mercier from the rail, but instead the turn was the K
, sealing the win for Seidel. The river was the meaningless 2
. Collins’ finish earned him $13,332.
Sands was eliminated one place earlier in 11th place, earning $13,332 as well. Dewitt raised to 23K before the flop, and Sand re-potted. One more raise from Dewitt was enough to put the short-stacked Sands all in and he made the call. Dewitt turned over A
A
and was well ahead of Sands’ K
J
. The flop Q
9
4
gave Sands an inside-straight draw, but the turn (2
) and river (3
) were blanks and Sands was eliminated.
Event #21 $3K HORSE
Barry Greenstein is now sitting over in Event #23, signifying he has been eliminated from the $3K HORSE event. We watched Mike “SirWatts” Watson hit the rail after a razz hand against Steve “MrSmokey1″ Billirakis. Watson was short, and both players got it all-in after fifth street with their hands looking like this:
Billirakis: T
5
-6
3
4
Watson: 8
6
-4
A
A
Watson paired again when he was dealt the 4
on sixth street and Billirakis sealed the deal when dealt the 2
. With only one card to come, Mike could not make a better six low and was eliminated in 38th place. Watson receives $5,838. Billirakis chipped up to 70K, but is still on a short stack.
Also at that table is Stewart “Stuman123″ Yancik who is very healthy with 210K in chips.
