Parker Latest Shootout Victim by Jessica on 06.27.09, 11:56 pm

As play gets short-handed, chips are changing hands at increasingly rapid rates in the $1.5K LHE Shootout event. Brock “t_soprano” Parker (pictured left) came back from dinner break with over 100K and shared the chip lead with tablemate Greg “FBT” Mueller. However, Parker said he failed to win a single pot since returning from break and when we caught up with him he was sitting on his last 12K.

With the betting limits at 2K/4K a player raised to 4K from middle position, Parker 3-bet from the button, and Tom Schneider 4-bet from the small blind. The initial raiser got out of the way and Parker put the rest of his chips in the middle. His A3 was trailing Schneider’s AT and the T925J board didn’t do Brock any favors. He was eliminated, but racks up another cash to add to an already impressive list.

Shawn “sbuck21″ Buchanan is also battling a short stack at his table after a couple of frustrating hands. First, the player under the gun raised, Shawn 3-bet from the button, and the other player called. The flop fell 954 and the other player check-called a bet from Buchanan. The 7 brought a third spade on the turn and Buchanan’s opponent checked again. Shawn fired out a bet and the other player called. When a fourth sapde, the Q, hit on the river the other player led out and Shawn picked up his cards and stared at them. He looked at his holdings, 99 for a set of nines, and reluctantly conceded the pot, dropping to 36K.

The very next hand Buchanan opened for a raise from the cutoff and the same player called out of the big blind. The flop came K85 and the other player led out. Shawn raised and the other player quickly 3-bet. Shawn called, but instantly folded to another bet once the 7 put four clubs on board on the turn. That hand took Buchanan down to around 25K and when we last checked on him he was the short stack at his 5-handed table with 17K.

Mike “goleafsgoeh” Leah is the short stack at his table as well. He has 36K at his 4-handed table. Matt “mattster24″ Sterling, on the other hand, is the slight chip leader at his 3-handed table with 106K.
