P5ers Accumulating Chips in $1.5K NLHE by Brett on 06.27.09, 6:27 pm

Shaun “Cougars4444″ Hendrickson, Tom “titantom32″ Braband and Dave “doubledave22″ D’Alesandro are among those thriving in the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘em Event (#51). Hendrickson (pictured left) has more than tripled his stack after calling a bluff in Level 3. With blinds at 75/150 a player made it 450 to go from middle position and Hendrickson called with pocket queens. The flop came 9-7-4 with two clubs and the original raiser bet 800. Hendrickson went along for the ride and the dealer rolled over the K on the turn. Shaun’s opponent bet 1.2K and he called, holding the Q. The river was brought a queen and his opponent bet 2.5K. Hendrickson quickly called, tabling his set of queens. “I guess that didn’t work,” the other player said as he showed 32. Yes, that’s the type of play we’re witnessing so far. Hendrickson is one of the early chip leaders with 14.5K

D’Alesandro increased his stack to 9K after he and another player got it all in preflop. His opponent raised to 600 at 75/150 and D’Alesandro made it 1.8K. The other player moved all in for 3.3K and Dave called:

Opponent: J-J
D’Alesandro: Q-Q

The board ran out Q-T-8-J-2, giving Dave a higher set and eliminating his opponent.

Tom “titantom” Braband is comfortably above the starting stack with 13.3K. Alex Jacob is off to a quick start too with 15K. Jacob eliminated Devin “Devinmcd11″ McDonald’s when Alex’s trip sevens bested Devin’s pocket aces.

Michael “mossified84″ Skomac has been active to start the day. During one hand as his table, two players built a very large pot with three clubs on the board. Skomac was not involved in said hand, and when the action ended he sounded off.

“I played every hand for two hours,” he griped. “But the one hand I don’t play I would have made the nuts.”

Skomac has less than the starting stack in front of him.

Shaun Deeb was in an interesting hand before the last break. According to Deeb the action folded to a woman on the button and she put in a raise to 300 with the blinds at 50/100. Shaun moved all in for over 4000 from the small blind and the big blind folded. The woman tanked for a long time before folding tens face up. Deeb showed a four and left the table for break.

Danny “BigDShaggyJ” Johnson, Court Harrington, Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul, Jeff “yellowsub” Williams and Adam Junglen were some of the players making exits since our last report. Here’s a look at some chip counts with Level 3 coming to a close:

WSOP 2009 Event #50 $1.5K LHE SHOOTOUT

Day 2 of Event #50 has begun in the Brasilia Room and Brock “t soprano” Parker is among the P5ers in the field. Parker is sitting in a tough seat at Table 247 though, the 2009 Limit Hold’em World Champion, Greg “FBT” Mueller, is sitting to his direct left.

Table 244:
Shawn “sbuck21″ Buchanan got off to a nice start, taking a big pot off of last year’s runner up in this event Jean-Robert Bellande. Buchanan flopped a queen high flush with a re-draw to a straight flush and Jean-Robert flopped the nut straight. Bellande paid him off on every street and Buchanan is chip leader at his table with 60K.
