Someone call the William Morris Agency immediately. We have one of the best Hollywooders we’ve seen the entire WSOP and he is right here and Andy “BKiCe” Seth (pictured right) and a recently-relocated Eric “peachy_k33n” Liu. We missed the preflop action but watched as Seth bet out 2.1K into a 5K pot from the big blind with the board reading T
T
8
. The player in the cutoff thought for over a minute and called. The turn was a second eight, the 8
, and Seth once again bet out, this time 4.3K. Again, his opponent thought and thought, massaging his forehead and riffling his chips, and he ultimately decided to call again. The river was the 5
and Andy bet out 11.1K this time.
This bet really got his opponent. He leaned back in his chair, ran his hands through his hair, and exhaled deeply. He peeked at his cards and he counted his chips. He stood up, perhaps trying to assess the situation from a different perspective. The player then proceeded to empty the contents of his pockets on the table.
As this was happening, we could have sworn that Eric Liu briefly dozed off and Allen “albari” Bari was socurious to see what was happening that he wandered over from a couple of tables away. Eventually Seth’s opponent picked up his chip stack, deeply inhaled, and placed it in the middle of the table before he could change his mind. It was epic. Trust us.
Immediately upon the other player moving all-in, Andy burst out laughing. He thought maybe twenty seconds, flashed the 8
for eights full, and folded. His opponent then lifted his two tens skyward as if to show them to the gods and thank them for blessing him with flopped quads. His rail erupted into applause and proceeded to take pictures of their theatrical friend for a good two minutes while Seth continued to chuckle to himself.
After the hand, Bari came back over and when he learned the guy had quad tens he just laughed, “This is why I love the World Series,” he proclaimed.
Andy is probably loving the World Series too. Even though he told us he was going to play tight, another player at the table referred to him as, “a clinic in aggression,” and informed us he was, “raising 90% of the hands.” It is working out just fine for Seth at the moment though. Even after losing that pot to the master thespian he still had 115K. Tom “sbrounder” West chipped up since dinner break too. He is up to 80K.
Alex “Kadabra” Keating (pictured left) had been short for sometime before he finally got his 4K stack all in with A
8
. Unfortunately for him, his opponent held A
A
, and she quickly made the call.
“What do those look like?” Keating asked as he grabbed them and pretended to sweat them.
The dealer retrieved the woman’s aces and proceed to burn a card and flop 9
6
4
. Any hope of a suck-out ended with the Q
on the turn and the 9
on the river ended Alex’s day officially.
We reported earlier in the day that David “Bakes” Baker’s table almost won the Jack Links Beef Jerky $100 prize package by making quad jacks. Well, twenty minutes after that report, someone at his table did make quad jacks. And just minutes ago his table almost won the promotion again! Baker was the victim in the hand but it didn’t seem to bother him much. Here’s how it went down:
A player at his table raised to 800 and Baker reraised to 2.4K. It folded back around to the original raiser who moved all in for 7.5K. Baker quickly called with A
K
, which was in a race situation against J
J
. The flop: J
9
2
. Baker was all but drawing dead as his opponent flopped top set. But his attention had already been diverted. “Jerky!” he yelled as the dealer prepared to flip over the turn and river cards. The A
and Q
were no help and Baker lost the pot — and fell short of the prize package again. He still has 42K in chips to work with.
Interesting note: There are five P5ers seated at the same table right now. Ian “IanJ” Johns (Seat 1), Jon “pokertrip” Friedberg (Seat 2), Mike “inissint” Glasser (Seat 3), Matt “SamENole” Smith (Seat 6), and Darus “BejoMas” Suharto are at Table 72 in the Amazon Room.
