The number of PocketFivers playing in the $5K No-Limit Hold’em six-max event today is mind-blowing. We’ve counted almost 100 in the field already and it seems like every time we turn around another familiar face appears.
Some of the late arrivals we’ve spotted recently include David “Bakes” Baker, Isaac “Mr. Menlo” Baron, Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby and Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson.
We also made our first trip through the Brasilla Room and found top-ranked Steve “gboro780″ Gross sitting to the left of Phil “USCPhildo” Collins. Vivek “psyduck” Rajkumar is at the same table as David “DavidP18″ Peters and Frank “Round42″ Rusnak is seated with Luke “IWEARGOGGLES” Staudenmaier and Adam “ASPoker8″ Shuman.
Rusnak doubled through Shuman during the second level of play with the blinds at 75/150. When we walked up to the table Rusnak had 1K in the middle and had been re-raised to 2.6K by Shuman. Rusnak thought for a while before moving all in for about 10K and Shuman called with his J

Rajkumar took a big hit to his stack during the same level. We walked up to the table as Rajkumar re-raised to 1.3K before the flop. The player in seat four called and the flop was 9

Other players we spotted in the Brasillia Room include Justin “lockdownpokah” Allen, Adam “csimmsux” Geyer, Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman, Jamie “TheCronic420″ Rosen and Thayer “THAY3R” Rasmussen.
WSOP 2009 Event #52: $3K Triple Chance NLHE
Eric “Rizen” Lynch found some early success in today’s $3K Triple Chance NLHE restart but it wouldn’t last long. First, with Lynch sitting in the big blind, action folded around to the small blind who moved all in for Lynch’s effective stack at the 6K/12K blind level. Lynch peeked down at A
T
and he called off his last 260K. His opponent showed K
T
and Lynch’s hand held up to double his stack.
Minutes later Lynch got involved in another blind versus blind confrontation and doubled a player at his table. That left him with around 350K and he was sent home shortly after. Lynch got all of his chips in preflop with pockey nines against an opponent’s pocket queens and failed to improve. He finished in12th place and collected $30,000.
Jason “JCarver” Somerville doubled up to 550K and Michael “Bonzo9876″ Katz has eliminated two players already to chip up to 1.3 million. Jason “TheMasterJ33″ DeWitt is still the chip leader with more than 1.5 million. The remaining 10 players are currently merging into the “unofficial” final table. We’ll be updating their progress regularly as we get closer to potentially crowning another P5er as a WSOP champion.
