Three hours of rebuys and a field crowded with “a bunch of sickos”, as Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby put it, should make for an entertaining day in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha w/Rebuys event.
Table draws are always a huge factor in the way the rebuy levels play out, and anyone who sits down with Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi (pictured right) should be prepared to gamble. Mizzi began the hour potting and re-potting preflop without looking at his cards and building his chip stack to over 30K within the first 15 minutes (players started with 3K and the option of adding on another 3K). He has since lost more than half of that to Peter Gould, who has been taking part in the blind betting with Mizzi as the rest of the table picks their spots wisely.
We caught Hamby looking defeated after he lost a pot and had to rebuy. He walked over and vented, “Why do I get it in with the best hand against Phil Galfond?” Also seated at Hamby’s table is Scott “BigRiskky” Clements and Jamie Gold.
Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson got involved in a large pot with last year’s $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha w/Rebuys winner Alan Smurfit. Each got their money in preflop, and Smurfit’s A

had Johnson in trouble when he flopped top set. His hand went on to hold and he proclaimed, “I’ve got to defend my championship!”
