November Nine Table by Court on 12.15.08, 8:59 pm

Table 41 in the Fontana Lounge has a very interesting cast of players. Ivan Demidov and Dennis Phillips were both members of the November 9, the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event. They are both at the table which is worthy of notice in itself. Roy Winston was brought on by Phillips to be his coach, which drew both attention and criticism from many in the poker world. Winston is also at the table, along with past Bellagio WPT champion Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul (right).

As the tables continue to be broken and players are moved from the poker room into the main playing area in the Fontana Lounge the total number of players left in the tournament continues to drop at a steady pace. About halfway through the day the field is already down to 225 players, with over 150 players already being eliminated today.

Christian “charder” Harder, Adam “Roothlus” Levy, Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar and Adam “Akat11″ Katz (left) have all been sidelined. On a flop of 866 David Benyamine bet 4k and Katz raised to 12,500. Benyamine called and the turn was the J. David checked and Adam bet 18,500. Benyamin again called and the Q hit the river. The action was again checked to Katz and he moved all in for somewhere in the range of 40-50k. Benyamine called and showed the T9 for a straight while Katz exposed his AJ as he stood to make his exit from the tournament.

Amit “Amak316″ Makhija and Scott “BigRiskky” Clements were both able to recently double up, Amit to 130k and Clements to around 60k. Makhija had called a raise preflop with jacks and on the 764 flop he check raised a 4,500 bet to 14,500 and was called. The turn was the 9 and Amit led for 24k. He was again called and the river was the A. Amit checked to his opponent who moved all in forcing Makhija to make a decision for the rest of his chips. He called with the JJ and was able to pick off his opponent’s bluff with K-J to take the pot and double up.

Clements was all in preflop with AJ against KQ and his hand held up to give him a needed double up and put him back above the starting stack and give him a little room to work.
