We just witnessed the biggest pot of Event #45 take place between Bryn Kenney (pictured left) and John Kabbaj. Kenney opened from early position to 28K and action folded to Kabbaj in the small blind. John proceeded to re-raise to 83K. The big blinded opted to skip out on the fun and action landed back on Kenney. Bryn reached for a stack of orange chips and put in a fourth bet to 163K. John went into the tank for a moment examining his own stack. As if the moment wasn’t tense enough Kabbaj looked up and said, “I’m gonna raise.” John added another 260K to make it 323K total. Before Kabbaj could get his chips in Kenney announced the sixth and final bet of all-in. John snap called and Bryn was in bad shape:
Kabbaj: A
A
Kenney: K

Bryn looked sick as the board came Q

and the 1.2 million chip pot was pushed toward Kabbaj.
A few hands later, at the same table, there was a three-way all in including Luke “IWEARGOGGLES” Staudenmaier, Keven “stamdogg” Stammen and Kirill Gerasimov. The three hands looked like this:
Stammen: T
T
Staudenmaier: J
T
Gerasimov: A
K
The flop was dry, 7
5
2
. The Q
on the turn missed everyone too. If Stammen could dodge an ace, king or jack he would scoop a 700K pot, but the A
spiked on the river. Staudenmaier was eliminated in 24th place earning $24,066 and Stammen was left with just 100K.
The table continued to see action and both Stammen and Kenney saw their tournaments ended by the mighty Kabbaj. Another three-way all in ensued, but this time Stammen held jacks, Kenney tens and Kabbaj AK. The flop was eight high, but the ace on the turn spelled doom for both P5ers. A nine blanked on the river and both players were eliminated. Kenney (22nd) and Stammen (23rd) receive $26,066 for their efforts.
Daniel “Allanon” Drescher was the second elimination after the bubble bursted. Drescher took 26th for $26,066.
WSOP EVENT #47: $2.5K MIXED HOLD’EM
David “Doc Sands” Sands wants to have at least 40K by the end of the night in the $2.5 Mixed Hold’em event. You see, he has plans to play in a golf tournament tomorrow and the only way he’ll be happy to be at the Rio rather than on the links is if he has a significant number of chips.
By our count he just increased his stack to almost 50K after taking out an opponent during a round of limit hold’em. After a series of pre-flop raises the other player was all in for the rest of his short stack with T
8
to Sands’ A
7
. The board came J

and Sands’ opponent was eliminated.
We missed the action but Theo “pittrounder” Tran lost a big portion of his stack with pocket kings against another player’s pocket aces. He looked to have about 25K left after the loss. He did recoup some of his losses a little later against the same player during a level of limit hold’em with the blinds at 800/1.5K and limits of 1.5K/3K.
With the board reading 8

, the other player made a bet and Tran called. Tran’s opponent tried to muck his hand but Tran didn’t show his hand, so the other player turned up his 7
6
. Tran then showed his T
T
to win the pot and get back up to almost 40K.
Corey “Comandr_cool” Burbick was eliminated during the same limit round. He got the last 400 chips of his very short stack in the middle against two opponents on a flop of 8
4
3
. The player in seat six check-called a bet from seat seven after the 6
fell on the turn. The river was the 9
. The player in seat six check-folded to a bet this time and seat seven proudly turned over his A

after seeing Burbick’s K
