The Maven Is Out, BKiCe Playing ‘Perfect Poker’ by Rachel on 06.13.09, 4:04 am

Event #24, a $1.5K NLHE tourney, is down to four tables in the Orange Section of the Amazon Room. Play will continue this evening until they reach a final table or the clock hits 3 a.m.

We are expecting the latter.

David “The Maven” Chicotsky (pictured at left) won’t be making either unfortunately. When we walked over to inspect his table he was vacant, and Alan Jaffray was stacking his chips. Jaffray was kind enough to inform us that he had raised in early position, and Chicotsky three-bet him from the small blind. Alan shoved and David called. Jaffray held KK against the AK of Chicotsky, and the flop came K-Q-J. Alan flopped top set, but still had to sweat David’s straight draw. Chicotsky could not find a ten on the turn or the river, sending him to the rail. The Maven was eliminated in 34th place and takes home $14,093 for his second consecutive cash at this year’s World Series.

Stuart “vedder1980″ Barclay was faced with a tough decision at a nearby table. The board read 953, and Barclay’s opponent shoved all-in after being check raised. Stuart called with 88 and was behind his opponent’s K9. The T came on the turn, and Stuart held the only club. The 4 did not help Barclay, and he was down to only 50K with the blinds at 5K/10K/1K. He got it all in soon after with A4 against an opponent’s AJ and with no help from the board was eliminated.

We missed his bustout hand, but it appears as if Aditya “Intervention” Agarwal has busted as well.

Andy “BKiCe” Seth and Glenn “TheGFactor” McCaffrey (pictured at right) continue to butt heads at an outer table. In one such case Seth three bet from middle position and McCaffrey shoved all in for just 113K more from the blinds, making the pot almost 300K total. Seth decided to fold, but the very next hand both players did get it all-in. Both of them held AK, though, and chopped the pot.

During break we got a chance to talk with McCaffrey. “I have never raised folded more in my life,” he told us. “BKiCe is playing perfect poker.”

WSOP EVENT #27: $5K PLO H/L

Senovio “Dorsal Fin” Ramirez is now sitting behind one of the biggest stacks in the $5K Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low event.

In one key hand, Ramirez made a pot-size raise to 4.8K before the flop. We’re not sure what the action was before that raise but one player made the call. The flop was AK6. Ramirez set out a stack of 1K chips to make a pot-size bet and basically commit the other player to the pot for all his chips. The other player moved all in and the cards were turned up:

Ramirez: AA88
Seat three: AK92

The turn was the 9 and the river was the 7, and Senovio’s trip aces won him the pot. After the hand Ramirez was up to almost 90K.

Mike Sexton(pictured at left), one of the newest PocketFivers, was all in pre-flop at another table holding AAQ5 to his opponent’s AA84. He had to settle for a split pot when the board came T8824, giving Sexton the best low of A-2-4-5-8 but his opponent a full house.

Mike “SirWatts” Watson was also all in a short time ago. We didn’t catch any of the action, but we did see him re-stacking a pile full of chips after doubling up. He has about 42K now.

Stewart “Stuman123″ Yancik has more chips every time we check on him. He raised one hand to 2K before the flop and found one caller in seat six. Both players checked the 444 flop as well as the K on the turn. However, when the 3 fell on the river Yancik decided to bet 2.5K. The other player thought for about a minute before making the call. Yancik turned over QQ32 to win the pot. He now has more than 60K.

Unfortunately, Matt “mattg1983″ Graham, Kyle “kcannon” Cannon, Shannon Shorr and Justin “Boosted J” Smith are no longer in their seats and all appear to have busted. Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier is still in the field, though, as is Jordan “scarface_79″ Smith and a short-stacked Scott “BigRiskky” Clements.

WSOP 2009 Event #26 $1.5 LHE

Event #26 is in its tenth and final level of the evening. Justin Bonomo and Barry Greenstein lead the remaining P5ers with 37K and 24K respectively. While Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire and Tyson “POTTER” Marks are still alive and well.
