Just Maridu It by Jessica on 06.08.09, 9:44 pm

If the expression on Maria “Maridu” Mayrinck’s face in this photo is any indication, she is rockin’ it out in the Ladies’ event, having doubled up twice in the span of an hour. First, Maria raised to 3.6K with the blinds at 800/1,600 ante 200 and one of the bigger stacks decided to look her up. Mayrinck was quick to ship her remaining 10K in chips in on the J72 and the other player thought before calling with 44. The turn and river came TJ and Maria doubled up to 36K.

As we were passing back through we caught Maria scooping a substantial pot with pocket aces on a 10-6-2-10-6 board. We didn’t get to see what the other player had, but we did watch Mayrinck stack up 65K in chips after the hand.

Another player who got a much needed double up was Jamie “mmmwawa” Kerstetter.  When we saw her earlier and asked how she was doing, she simply held up her beer, pointed to it, and said, “this is how I’m doing.”  Perhaps Jamie turning to drinking too soon though.  Her double up has her sitting with 35K.

Kristin “allinbluffpsych” Bachman tried to double up with her A-Q against pocket jacks, but was unable to catch up and went out in 95th place.

WSOP 2009 Event #15 $5K NLHE

Over at the final table of Event #15 $5K NLHE, Billy “Patrolman35″ Kopp was crippled by Brian Lemke after getting it all in preflop with AQ. Lemke had Kopp dominated, holding QQ. Kopp needed an ace, but didn’t receive one on a board of T7766.

Billy was left with just an ante, but doubled twice before falling to the pocket jacks of Fabian Quos and busting out in 8th place, good enough for $75,155.

Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers remains quiet, but still has 1.5 million, while Isaac “westmenloAA” Baron and Danny “dannyills” Illingworth continue to be active with 2.2 million and 1.2 million respectively.

WSOP 2009 Event #19: $2.5K 6-Handed NLHE

The field continues to shrink in the 6-handed event and there are now only 396 players remaining.  One player who headed for the door recently was Tony “Bond18″ Dunst opened to 550 on the button with blinds at 100/200 ante 25 and Nam Le reraised for all of his chips save for his stack of green 25 chips.  Dunst moved all-in for good measure and Nam called.  Le showed AJ, which was trailing Tony’s AQ until the AJ2 put Nam in the lead.  The turn and river ran out 73 respectively to give Nam the pot.  He had 6,150 chips to start the hand, leaving Tony only 650 chips once the stacks were counted down and the pot was shipped.

Dunst was able to double through Brett “threatnasty” Switzer shortly after that, but still had a ways to go to build his stack back up.  Thayer Rasmussen opened a pot at the table for 550 in middle position and the players in the cutoff and button both called.  Tony then moved all-in for 850 more and Thayer reraised to force the other two players out of the pot.  Rasmussed showed A9, which had Dunst’s A7 in bad shape.  The board failed to help Tony and he was eliminated at the end of Level 5.

WSOP 2009 Event #18 $10K Limit Omaha 8

The players in Event #18 are now on dinner break. Scott “bigriskky” Clements has dipped a bit but is still pushing 200K in chips, and Annie Duke has eclipsed triple digits with 105K for herself. Gavin Smith busted and Barry Greenstein is still low. Barry’s day brightened though when Jeffrey Lisandro took down Event #16 $1.5K Stud Hi. The Bear is paired up with Lisandro in a prop bet for more Player of the Year Points against Daniel Negreanu and Erick Lindgren.

Just so you all are aware, pretty much all of the events are on dinner break until 8PM or so, but we will continu eto bring you coverage from the $5K NLHE final table, which is still playing out.
