Maimone Out in 15th; Shulman Cutsss Down Lacay by Brett on 07.15.09, 8:56 pm

Nick “fu_15″ Maimone’s unbelievable run of fortune on Day 8 came to an end just moments ago as the Charlotte native was sent home in 15th place. After building his stack as high as 12 million earlier in the day Maimone (pictured left) lost a couple sizable pots in the past level and then played a hand against Eric Buchman that would end his tournament.

With the blinds at 100K/200K Maimone raised to 450K and Buchman called from the small blind. On the JT8 flop Maimone led out for 700K and Buchman quickly moved all in, having Nick covered. It didn’t take long for Maimone to call off his remaining 4.5 million stack with AQ and he found himself up against Buchman’s J9. The J turn spelled disaster for Maimone, leaving him drawing to just four kings in the deck for a straight, but couldn’t get there with the Q river and he was sent to collect his $633,022.

Ludovic “Cutsss” Lacay (pictured right) spent most of today looking for a spot to get his short stack in and double up. He had to be somewhat pleased when he moved in for his last 3 million with pocket sevens and Jeff Shulman called with AK giving him the lead and a chance to increase his stack to more than 6 million.

The flop was cruel to Lacay, however, as Shulman made top pair when it came K-9-5, and the turn and river were no help to the Frechman as he made his exit in 16th place for $500,557.

Ben “benba” Lamb recently lost half his stack to Darvin Moon in a recent confrontation where Moon raised to 575K from the cutoff and Lamb called from the big blind. Both players checked the 642 flop and Lamb checked again when the 9 rolled off on the turn. Moon fired out a one million chip bet and Lamb quickly called. The river brought the 9 and Lamb checked to Moon a third time. Moon bet out 3 million and Lamb called. Moon showed A9 for trip nines and Lamb mucked. He is now down to 3 million chips.
