Mackey Busts The Bear, Scarface Also Out by Court on 10.23.09, 6:55 pm

After a 15 minute break players will be back at the tables for the 2k / 4k blind level with a 400 chip ante. During the second level of play Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy was able to chip up significantly while Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein, Joe “Pokerjoe9″ Elpayaa, Jordan “Scarface_79″ Smith and Kevin Boudreau were all eliminated

Greenstein fell to James “mig.com” Mackey (right) when the shortstacked Bear was all in with KJ against the pocket fives of Mackey. A five on the flop pretty much sealed the deal and Barry was eliminated while Mackey’s stack grew to 280k, a hefty increase over the 78,600 he started the day with.

Josephy also ended the level with around 280k after doubling through Adam Geyer when his all in bet on with a full house on the river was paid off. Bax went on to bust Abe Mosseri later in the level when his pocket tens held up after the chips went in on an 8 high flop with Mosseri holding 87. Boudreau was eliminated when his last 90k chips were in the middle and his jacks fell to another players AK after a king hit on the flop.

Corwin Cole finished off Jordan “Scarface_79″ Smith (left) when his KJ outflopped the A5 of Smith. Corwin had opened from the button and Smith moved all in for around 70k from the button. Cole called and a jack high flop ended the day for Smith. At the same table Jason “JCarver” Somerville is still going strong and holding the tournament chip lead. A 25k bet on the river of a QQ52T board was enough to pick up yet another pot for Somerville.

Jonathan “FieryJustice” Little is back in it with over 100k and has recently been moved to the table on the stage, joining Bax, Chad “M8kingmoves” Batista, Adam Geyer, and Markus “LURPED” Gonsalves. Batista saved chips by checking behind on the river in a pot against Gonsalves. On the turn of a 522K board Batista bet 20k and Gonsalves called. With the 9 on the river Gonsalves checked the action over to Batista and Chad just rolled over his KQ for top pair. Markus showed his 99 for a rivered set and Chad heard a few “nice check” comments from a couple players at the table. Batista was down to 180k after the hand while and active Gonsalves is up to 400k.

Dutch “havoj” Boyd
also checked behind on the river, but in his case his hand was good. Justin Young had raised to 41k on the turn after Dutch bet 18k on the T867 board but with the A on the river the action went check check. Young said he had a pair and Dutch rolled over his 54 for the low end of the straight. After losing the 140k pot Young was down to around 110k.
