Lucky Number Seven by Brett on 06.12.09, 3:22 pm

For those who missed it late last night, Zac “Zacpacker” Fellows became the sixth P5er to earn a bracelet at the 2009 World Series of Poker when he defeated James Van Alstyne heads up in the $3K HORSE event. It was the seventh bracelet for the Pocketfives community in just 21 events. Fellows (pictured right) took home $311,899 and added his name to an impressive winners list that already includes Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier, Rami “arbianight” Boukai, Keven “stamdogg” Stammen, Brian “ship_the_perc” Lemke and Brock “t_soprano” Parker (twice).

Jason “JCarver” Somerville, Mike “shipitthisway” McNeil and Justin “BoostedJ” Smith have their own opportunity to pick up some jewelry today. Somerville and McNeil are at the final table of the $1.5K NLHE Shootout (Event #22). Action will get underway at 2:00 p.m. local time and we’ll be covering their progress closely throughout the day.

Smith is one of 10 players returning for the final day of the $10K Limit Deuce-to-Seven Draw World Championship. Play was halted at 3 a.m. (even though some players wanted to continue playing until there were seven left) so we’ll begin with two tables of five and play down until a winner is crowned later this evening. Smith is cuurently eighth in chips (122.5K) and is chasing chip leader Vince Mousso (765.5K), who is the only amateur remaining in the field.

Darryll “DFish” Fish, Scott “r_a_y” Montgomery, Jack “doctor_fun” Powell and Cory “UGOTPZD” Carroll are among the top chip stacks returning for Day 2 of the $1,500 NLHE event. We were shocked to see a field of more than 2,500 trim down to 270 in a single day but those that survived have each guaranteed themself a payday of $2,668. The winner will take home $607,256. Hopefully we’ll have our final nine by this evening.

The $2.5K Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event will also resume play at 2:00 p.m. One-hundred fifty-five of the original 376 players made it through day one, including P5ers Jon “PearlJammer” Turner, Kevin “kice32″ Iacofano and Scott “BigRiskky Clements.

Finally, the $1.5K LHE event has just gotten underway here at the Rio. Josh “JBT449″ Bergman, Matt “mattster24″ Sterling, Brock “t_soprano Parker” and Jason Gray are just a few of the players we’ve spotten in the fieldĀ so far.
