Poker. What a fun game.
Jamie “TheNew” Robbins returned from his dinner break with less than five big blinds but seemed to be in good spirits after having his aces cracked. And then the poker gods poked their heads in on the WSOP Main Event yet again.
With the blinds at 120K/240K ante 30K Joe “jcada99″ Cada raised to 600K and Robbins moved his short stack of 1.37 million into the pot. Action folded back around to Cada who snap-called:
Robbins: T
T
Cada: A
A
The K
6
2
flop missed Robbins and the 5
on the turn changed nothing. But as if it were fate the beautiful T
spiked on the river, giving Robbins a set of tens and doubling him back to 3.3 million chips.
After battling a short stack for much of the day Ben “benba” Lamb put in a raise from the cutoff and it folded around to Jeff Shulman in the big blind. After eyeing Ben’s stack Shulman announced he was all-in and Lamb called with A
J
. He needed a lot of help against Shulman’s A
K
and failed to get any as the flop came king-high to pair Shulman’s kicker. The turn and river were no help to Lamb and he was eliminated in 14th place earning $633,022 for his efforts.
Just a couple of hands later Darvin Moon raised to 700K on the button and James Calderaro reraised to 1.8 million, leaving around 3 million behind. Billy “Patrolman35″ Kopp then 4-bet from the big blind to 3.6 million total. Moon folded quickly and after some thought Calderaro folded his A-Q face up.
