Lichtenberger Coolered Early

The second grouping of day 1 players at the WSOPE now have a full level under the belt. The starting stacks are 30k and the blinds start out at 50 / 100 making the play pretty deep for the first few levels. Even with the deep stacks the chips end up in the middle here and there over the course of a 90 minute level. Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger and Justin “Boosted J” Smith were both involved in all ins, one winning the hand the other losing.
For Lichtenberger the all in was as simple as picking up pocket kings when another player found aces and getting the chips in the middle. (pictured left) Either Andrew had chipped up some early on or the other player had lost a chunk of his stack before the all in because after the chips were counted down Lichtenberger still had over 10k left in his stack.

J Justin Smith reportedly moved all in for his last 6k into a pot that was over 3 times that size. The other player went into the tank and ultimately folded 77 face up, surrendering his set and leaving himself with 15k. Smith’s hand was never shown. Smith is at a table in the downstairs poker room along with 5 other tables of play, one of which hosts Steven “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer, Nick “fu_15″ Maimone, and Mike “Timex” McDonald.
With a few seats being held out for late entry the tournament staff felt comfortable consolidating a table midway through the first level and table 22 where Shaun Deeb was sitting was the first to go. An ever aggressive Shaun Deeb won one of the first pots played at his table on a flop of 643. The other player bet 525 but Deeb made it 1,500 and it was like you could reah the “eh, it’s not worth fighting over” thought go through the other players head right before he folded his hand.
The final numbers for the field size won’t be in until after registration closes at the end of the second level, but day 1B play looks to have around 175 players now putting the total field at roughly 330 players with a few late arrivers sure to bump that number slightly.
