Levy Gets An Extended Dinner Break by Court on 02.21.09, 10:36 pm

With about 25 minutes left before the dinner break Adam “Roothlus” Levy (left) was eliminated from the LAPC, bringing the field down to 550 remaining players.  After clearing out the tent earlier in the day, enough eliminations have occurred to start breaking tables in the  main room.  As the tables along the outside edge clear out the chips from the eliminated players are starting to accumulate in some decent sized stacks around the room.

Jon “pokertrip” Friedberg saw some of his chips go across the table to Haralabos Voulgaris.  Friedberg called a 3k bet from Voulgaris on the J95T turn and again check called on the river, paying Haralabos off for another 3,700 chips on the A river.  Voulgaris showed the 55 for a flopped set and Jon mucked his hand conceding the pot.

Another Jon saw some chips come his way when his pair of nines held up to win a pot worth about 7k.  Jon “PearlJammer” Turner called a bet of 3,150 on a turn showing Q654 and with the 3 on the river he checked and the other player checked behind.  Turner showed the 99 and raked in the pot once the other player threw his hand in to the dealer face down.

Around the room a lot of stacks around the 40k range have emerged.  Players around double the starting stack include Mohsin “ChicagoCards1″ Charania, Chad “M8kingmoves” Batista, Peter “#1Pen” Neff, Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke and Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers.

The 500+ players left after the first four levels will get a 75 minute dinner break then return to play a few more levels after dinner.  Starting tomorrow and for the rest of the tournament there will be no dinner breaks.  Play will start at noon and finish up a little after 8pm, with the last couple of days being adjusted to make sure the field gets down to an appropriate number of players.
