Leah Bubbles; Morgan SortaLucky0 by Jessica on 01.16.09, 6:30 am

As play in the Southern Poker Championship went to hand-for-hand Jordan “iMsoLucky0″ Morgan (pictured right) got involved in a big hand with Bobby Suer.  On a flop of K84 Morgan bet 42K from the big blind into a raised pot and Suer called from the button.  The turn came 6 and the two managed to get it all in with Morgan holding 57 for a straight, besting Suer’s KK for top set.  However, a 4 on the river pairs the board, bringing Suer a full house.  The dealer counted down each players’ stack and Morgan was left with only 4K.

The next hand Jordan was automatically all-in in the small blind and Allen “AawwNutz” Carter raised to 21K in early position.  Everyone folded and as Morgan turned up the 7 he jokingly asked Carter to, “show me one”.  Allen obliged and flipped up the 6.  He then showed the 6 to go with it and his pocket sixes appeared to be in good shape against Morgans 37.  The board ran out AQT74 and the seven on the turn helped Morgan to quadruple up to 16K.

The next hand action folded around to Mike “goleafsgoeh” Leah who raised to 21K from the cutoff, leaving himself with 101K behind and Morgan elected to fold and wait for a better spot to try to chip up again.  It folded around to Carter in the big blind and he put Leah all-in.

Here is where things start to get a little crazy.  There appears to be a big hand brewing at the table across the room and Leah stands on his chair in an attempt to catch a peek at what is going on.  He counts down his stack and thinks for several minutes without coming to a decision.  Tournament Director Johnny Groomes eventually comes over to the table and informs Mike that he will have to act on his hand immediately and he cannot wait to see what is going to happen at the other table.  Before Leah comes to a decision, word spreads that the player at the other table has folded.

Despite the lack of an all-in on one of the other tables, Leah still decides to call and turns over AK which has Carter’s KQ in bad shape.  The flop comes J94, giving Carter a gutshot straight draw.  Allen calls out “ten” right before the T peels off on the turn.  The river is a meaningless 8 and Leah is eliminated in 28th place.  As the river is dealt, Jordan Morgan lets out a little smile, as he has eked into the money with his 2 BB chip stack.

The remaining 27 players are all guaranteed $13,186.  They will all return tomorrow at 2Pm to play down to the final table.  We will have complete chip counts and seat assignments available once they are released.
