Little To The Lead, Then Jaffe Doubles by Court on 11.12.08, 12:38 am

Heads up play started just the way Jonathan “FieryJustice” Little wanted. He was able to pick up a few key pots and build a chip lead of 8.7 million to Jonathan Jaffe’s 3.6 million without any major all in showdowns. Then the two did end up all in and Jaffe had the best of it to double his 3.6 million to 7.2 million and retake the chip lead from Little, dropping him down to 5 million.

In the third hand of heads up play Little (right) was able to win a pot to bring the chip counts to even at around 6.2 million each. He then continued to trend upward and take the lead after he opened a pot for 200k, Jaffe raised to 725k and Little moved all in. His all in move forced Jaffe out and put Little in the lead with 6.8 million to Jaffe’s 5.5 million.

In another pot Jaffe called a raise preflop of 200k and then called every street all the way to the river for bets of 300k and 500k, and when faced with a million chip bet on the river of the Q86J2 board Jaffe finally gave up his hand and Little saw his stack rise to the 8 million mark.

A few more pots for Little and the stacks sat at 8.7 million for Little to 3.6 million for Jaffe and Little seemed to be in total control of heads up play. One quick double up turned things around though, and Jaffe was back on top. Little had raised to 200k preflop and Jaffe called. On the J96 flop Jaffe check raised over the top of Little’s 300k bet to 950k. Little moved all in and Jaffe instantly called. Little had flopped top pair with his JT but Jaffe had flopped top two pair with the J9. The A on the turn gave Little 3 more outs on the river, but he didn’t hit an ace or a ten and Jaffe was able to double up.

After the double Jaffe took the lead with 7.2 million to the just over 5 million in left in Little’s stack. Things continued to go well for Jaffe and he was able to win another large pot of Little to increase his lead to 9.2 million to Little’s 3 million.

Jaffe had opened for 190k with the blinds still at 40k / 80k and a 10k ante.  Little called the raise and on the J44 flop checked to Jaffe who bet 250k.  Little called the quarter million and again checked to Jaffe on the T turn.  Jaffe bet 750k and Little called.  With the K on the river Little again sent the action to Jaffe and he bet 750k.  Little called and Jaffe showed his J9 and the paired jack was enough to get Little to muck his hand, giving a 3 to 1 chip lead to Jaffe.
