In Event #15, the $1k Ladies NLHE field is down to 220 remaining of the original 1,190. The women left their tables for dinner break just before 7PM PST and will return at 8:25 for the remainder of their day.
We caught up with PocketFiver Simkha “HiFi” as her stack dwindled, forty minutes into Level 5. The blinds at 150/300, she was barely staying alive as the average stack was at 7K. Her table broke up and she was reseated next to Lacey Jones and was immediately in the hand as the big blind. She made it through the blinds with tight play.
At the next table over, Amanda Leatherman (pictured at left) built her stack to 12K; she was seated across from Kathy Liebert who had also amassed a strong chipstack.
When PocketFives caught up with Maria “Maridu” Mayrinck, the Brazilian bombshell animatedly spoke of her rise to chipdom. Apparently, Maridu had managed to turn her early 7K stack into about 1K, nearly exiting the tournament. She reported that she’d gotten it all-in call with AQ on a board of 7-8-6-5-T, representing that she’d made a flush with the three clubs on the board. She was called and somehow, her A-Q kickers miraculously managed to win her the hand. She continued to build her stack to over 12K before the break.
In Event #13, the $2.5K NLHE tournament, several PocketFivers played on as play reached the money. After returning from break, the chipstacks stood as follows:
Adam Katz - 50K
Craig Gray - 70K
Brent Hanks - 100K
Aaron Been - 150K
