Klodnicki Climbing Back by Rachel on 06.23.09, 4:56 am

Chris “SLOPPYKLOD” Klodnicki has found a way to patiently pick up chips in the $2.5K Mixed Event since being crippled earlier when his pocket kings fell to pocket queens.

Klodnicki’s low point was 22K when he raised before the flop to 10K in a round of limit hold’em and then called a re-raise. The flop was AAT. Klodnicki checked, the other player bet and Klodnicki folded with 22K behind.
During the same round of hold’em Klodnicki moved all in pre-flop and got a came from the same player. He showed TT while his opponent showed 77.

“I’m ahead, but I don’t think I’m going to win,” Klodnicki said.

He was wrong, though. The board came Q949T and Klodnicki doubled up to 44K.

Klodnicki returned to the same player for some more chips a little later. A flop of JJ3 came down during a round of Omaha Hi-Low. Klodnicki made the 5K bet and the other player called. The turn was the 9. Klodnicki checked and the other player bet. Klodnicki thought for at least a minute before beginning to move chips into the pot.

“How much more is it?” asked his opponent in a dejected voice before Klodnicki told him he was simply calling. The river was the Q. Klodnicki led out for a bet and the other guy folded. Klodnicki is still short but now has around 70K.

Things took a turn for the worse for Thayer “Thay3r” Rasmussen, and he was eliminated recently in 19th place. We didn’t see where his chips went but presume at least some of them went into the big chip stack of Jon “PearlJammer” Turner (pictured at right), who has more than 200K at this point.

WSOP 2009 EVENT #44 $2.5K RAZZ

Bryan Micon(pictured at left) got the last of his chips in the middle in a three-way pot against Dutch “havoj” Boyd and another opponent. Boyd called bets from his opponent on fourth fifth and sixth street, and going into seventh street the hands looked like this:

Micon: XX-4-K-Q-2
Boyd: XX-5-A-7-Q
Opponent: XX-6-7-6-4

Seventh street was dealt face down, and the third player checked to Boyd who checked behind. Dutch’s ten-seven low was no match for the third player’s seventy six low, giving him the side pot, but Micon started with A-5 and a three, five, six or seven would give him the main pot.

“I paid $2.5K for this and I’m going to get my squeeze,” Micon announced.

Bryan proceeded to squeeze his card slowly. He did not like what he saw and tabled the K and hit the rail.

Joining Micon are Jeff ”yellowsub” Williams and Kevin ”BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul. Some players that still remain are Matt “SamENole” Smith (10.6K), Annie Duke (15K), and Justin “BoostedJ” Smith (21.5K),

WSOP 2009 EVENT #39 $1.5K NLHE

Ray “WirdPair” Foley is heads up with Brandon Cantu  for a bracelet in Event #39. Alex Jacob busted in fourth place after holding the chip lead and taking three consecutive hits. Foley delivered the first blow and Cantu the second. The final blow was delivered by Ray when his A4 held against Jacob’s J9. Alex was visibly upset with his fourth place finish, but we hope the $190,857 will cheer him up a bit.

Foley and Cantu are on a short break and Brandon has the chip lead with 7 million to Foley’s 5.2 million.
