Less than an hour after the 14 players remaining in the $10K PLHE were down to a single table of ten and most of the P5ers in the field survived long enough to get there.  The lone exception was Billy “Patrolman35″ Kopp (pictured left), who was very active during the early goings of the day.  He busted a short stack to build his stack up near the million chip mark, but then he ran into Davidi “legrouzin” Kitai’s pocket kings versus his own pocket nines in an all-in preflop showdown.  The kings held and Kitai doubled up to over 800K while Kopp fell to around 675K.

Just a few hands later, the two butted heads again when, with the blinds at 12K/24K Kitai raised to 54K from under the gun at their 5-handed table and Kopp immediately announced “pot” right behind him.  It folded around to Kitai who asked Billy how much he had behind before calling the nearly 200K bet.  The flop fell 943 and Kitai checked to Kopp who emphatically announced “pot” once again, commiting all but about 80K of his chips with the bet.  Kitai quickly said all-in, Kopp called, and the cards were turned face-up.  Kitai held an overpair to the board with JJ while Kopp held two overs and a flush draw with AQ.

“Come on,” Kopps said as he stood from the table.  The cards didn’t listen to Kopp’s request though and ran out 48 to eliminate Kopp in 11th place and send Kitai up to second in chips with 1.5 million.  He trails only chip leader John Kabbaj, who has just over 2 million chips.

Shortly before Kopp’s elimination Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania doubled through fellow P5er Darryll “DFish” Fish when his pocket kings held against Fish’s pocket sixes.  Charania doubled up to almost 400K while Fish fell to 200K.

Fish was able to get a double up of his own shortly after players combined to a single 10-handed table though.  He got the remainder of his chips all-in preflop with 99 against Kabbaj’s KQ.  The board was kind to Fish as it ran out T329A to give him a set of nines and the 375K chip pot.

WSOP EVENT #46: $1.5K OMAHA H/L

There are 17 players remaining in the $2.5K Limit Omaha Hi-Low event, including three P5ers. A long day of play is still ahead as the players will make their way down to a winner.

The action was checked to Jeff “droogy” Tunkel on a flop of 765 with the limits at 8K/16K. He made a bet and got two callers. The turn was the 7 and all three players checked. The river was the 6. Action was again checked to Tunkel who made another bet. Both other players called.

“I have a flush,” Tunkel said, tabling QJ87. That was good enough to win him the high side of the pot while seat seven took the low with his 23-X-X. Tunkel looked to be up to about 175K after the hand.

James “Flushy” Dempsey (40K) and Josh “SDouble” Schlein (160K) are also still alive.

WSOP 2009 Event #48: $1.5K PLO H/L

Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier has already managed to knock out on of the tougher opponents at his PLO H/L table, Vitaly Lunkin. With the blinds at 50/100 Jason raised to 300, another player called, Lunkin called, and the player in the big blind called. The quartet saw the flop come down KT7 and the big blind checked to Mercier, who bet 900 into the 1.2K pot. The first caller folded and Lunkin moved all-in for his last 1.8K. The big blind folded and Jason called, tabling ATA7 for a flopped two pair and Lunkin showed AKQJ for top pair and a straight draw. The turn and river came 8 then 6 and Mercier’s two pair held to bust Lunkin and build his stack up to 6.5K an done rebuy chip as the second level began to wind down.
