Keating, Johns at $2K Limit Final Table by Rachel on 06.21.09, 5:43 am

The final table is set in Event #38, and two P5ers are in the hunt for a bracelet. They sit on opposite ends of the spectrum, Ian “Ian J” Johns is the short stack with 113K while Alex “Kadabra” Keating (pictured at left) is the chip leader with 464K.

Keating cruised for the majority of the day, but got into an altercation with one Phil Hellmuth during play. We weren’t present for said argument, but there were plenty of rumors flying around the media room, and when we asked Keating himself about it he just put his head down and laughed. Hellmuth busted before the final table was reached, leaving Alex with the last laugh indeed.

The nine remaining players will return to the Rio tomorrow at 2 p.m. to compete for $190,770 and a WSOP gold bracelet.

WSOP 2009 EVENT #40 $10K PLO

Rami “arbianight” Boukai (pictured at right) and Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi, both of whom have made final tables in event in PLO events this World Series, were eliminated during the last level of the 10K PLO World Championship event.

Boukai, who won a bracelet in a mixed pot-limit hold’em and Omaha event, hit the rail when his AKQ4 couldn’t beat K987 on a board of J95K8.

Mizzi, who just finished second in the $5K PLO event on Saturday, was all in in a three-way pot when we caught up with the action on the flop of 973:

Mizzi: KK43
Seat five: AAQJ
Seat eight: QJ98

The turn was the 4 and even the K on the river couldn’t improve Mizzi hand enough for him to stick around because it completed the flush of the player in seat eight.

Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein is still alive and well with a little over 60K. With the board reading AJ53 on the turn, Greenstein bet 5K and was reraised to 20K total by Surinder Sunar. Greenstein moved all in and Sunar made the call. Greenstein showed TT42 while Sunar had KQ42. The river was the 4 and the players chopped the pot with wheel straights.

Noah “fouruhaters” Schwartz
is sitting behind one of the biggest stacks in the room with about 250K in front of him. Here are a few other approximate chip counts from around the room:

Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke - 80K
Shawn “sbuck21″ Buchanan - 60K
Matt “mattg1983″ Graham - 55K
Chris “Genius28″ Lee - 12K
