“No good,” Cliff said tabling A6 for trip sixes. The pot pushed Josephy above 100K, but he has since dipped to 90K after doubling up an opponent holding T8 against QQ.
Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania and Dutch “haovj” Boyd have been battling throughout the day. Charania lost some chips on an ace high flop holding AQ against Boyd’s AK. Mohsin looked upset when his table broke, losing the opportunity to gain his chips back from Dutch. Both players have been moved to the Orange Section of the Amazon Room, Mohsin to a table of unfamiliar faces and Boyd to a table with a man named Phil Ivey.
Mark “dipthrong” Herm (pictured at right) has been moved to a new table in the Miranda room and recently sent a tablemate to the rail. Herm raised to 800 before the flop and got a call from the player in seat eight. The flop was K83. Seat eight bet 1.5K and Herm made the call. The turn was the 6. Seat eight moved all in for about 12K or so and Herm called instantly with his 86. His opponent turned over KJ, meaning he had plenty of outs, but the river was the T. Herm won the pot and chipped up to about 50K.
We ran into Steve “SteveyBallGame” Merrifield in Miranda as well. This was bad news since Merrifield has been playing in Brasilia all day. He told us that he busted holding pocket aces when his opponent flopped two pair with K-10.
Carter “ckingusc” King (pictured at left) is still at his table in Brasilia. With what looked to be a little more than 6K in the pot, King made a bet on the AK4 force after a check from Leif Force. King put a 5K chip into the pot and announced a bet of a smaller size that we couldn’t hear. Whatever the bet, Force moved all in for around 29K. King called quickly and turned over his AK. Force showed A5. The turn was the 3 and the river was the 5. King raked in the pot to increase his stack to 80K and Force was eliminated.
Todd “koolkeith13″ Lewis got his last 6K or so all-in preflop holding AJ to his opponent’s AQ. The Q-10-X flop improved the other player’s hand, but a 9 on the turn gave Lewis the open-ended straight draw. He missed when a 7 fell on the river and hit the rail midway through Level Four. Joining him their is Eric “whItE_mAmbA” Ladny, Grant “drossxyu” Hinkle, and Steve “gboro780″ Gross.
Even though it is still just Day 1D, Joe “JoeBlazenNYC” Chaplin can already consider himself a winner. He made quad jacks and won a bag full of Jack Link’s beef jerkey swag, including a foot tall Sasquatch statue where the furry wild beast is clutching a bag of jerky in a pose similar to the Heisman trophy. We aren’t quite sure how the hand went down, but as David “Bakes” Baker taught us all yesterday, the jerky is the most important piece of the puzzle here.
