More than half of today’s returning players from the $1.5K NLHE event have already been eliminated and it’s really no wonder. We caught several big hands during the past hour and it seems many players (especially amateurs) are playing too fast for their own good.
Darryll “DFish” Fish, who began the day second in chips, has added good chunk to his stack today. Early in level 13 with blinds at 1K/2K/300 ante Fish (pictured left) raised to 6K in early position and a woman reraised to around 18K on the button, with around 12K left behind in her stack. Fish “contemplated” his next move before moving all in. The woman called with A
K
but Fish was in command with his A
A
. The board ran out Q
T
5
T
Q
and Fish was up to 220K
The next hand, a player in early position moved all in for 16.6K and Fish called from the big blind with T
T
. He had a slight edge preflop against A
J
but then Fish mucked his hand when he saw the A
J
3
A
6
board. He is still sitting with more than 200K.
On the very next hand at the same table, Jeff “YoungSupremacy” Hakim pushed his last 13.5K in and was quickly called by the player to his left. Hakim showed A
9
, which led his opponent’s K
Q
, and he was able to double up when the dealer rolled out the 6
5
2
8
4
board.
Joining Fish in the 200K+ chip club during the past hour was Aditya “Intervention” Agarwal (pictured right), who just won a sizable pot at the end of level 13. Agarwal and two other players saw a flop of A
Q
J
and Aditya called a bet of 14K. The other player got out of the way. Both players checked the 3
on the turn and the dealer flipped over the 9
on the river. Agarwal’s opponent bet 34K, leaving him with a difficult decision. After about 30 seconds Aditya made the call and the other player mucked his hand. Agarwal’s A
K
was good enough to win the pot and increase his stack to a little over 200K.
Ironically, as we were putting this report together, Agarwal’s table broke and he was moved to Fish’s table. It should make for some entertaining play this evening.
We just saw David “The Maven” Chicotsky set a trap over on Table 64. A player in middle position raised and Chicotsky called in the small blind. The big blind called too, and all three players took a J
T
7
flop. Both David and the big blind checked, prompting the player in middle position to put out a continuation bet. Chicotsky shoved the rest of his stack in the middle and the big blind re-shoved. The player in middle position folded, and the hands were turned up.
Chicotsky: K
K
Big blind: A
J
The turn and river blanked 5
-2
, and The Maven more than doubled his stack to 90K.
Glenn “TheGFactor” McCaffrey is the current chip leader with well over 300K. We haven’t seen him take down any huge pots yet but each time we check on him his stack is bigger. We’ll camp out near his table and hopefully have something for you in our next report.
With 125 players still alive and the average stack at 90K here are the P5ers left in the field:
Glenn “TheGFactor” McCaffrey - 310K
Darryll “DFish” Fish - 206K
Aditya “Intervention” Agarwal - 200K
Brent “Horneris” Horner - 145K

Andy “BKiCe” Seth - 121K
Jeff “mrrain” Banghart - 58K
Ryan “gutshtallin” Welch - 56K
David “The Maven” Chicotsky -91K
Ryan “ryanbluf” Karp - 32K
Devin “tranquilchaos” Porter - 30K
Jeff “YoungSupremacy” Hakim - 28K
Craig “MrCasino” Gray - 20K
WSOP 2009 Event #22 $1.5K NLHE Shootout
Jason “JCarver” Somerville took a small hit before break in Event #22. We caught up with the action on the turn, but Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul informed us that Somerville raised the action preflop and received two calls from the blinds. The flop was K
8
6
, and the action checked to Jason who bet. Joseph Cutler called from the big blind. The turn was the 4
and both players checked. Cutler checked a third time when the K
paired the board on the river, and Somerville checked behind. Joseph rolled over 5
5
and Jason mucked his hand. Somerville is still comfortable with 450K, and Mike “shipitthisway” McNeil is sitting quietly with 470K.
We’d also like to note that P5er Mike “SirWatts” Watson is giving his support on the rail as well.
WSOP 2009 Event #26 $1.5K LHE
A few players have arrived fashionably late for today’s Limit Hold’em event. Justin Bonomo and Adam “A_Junglen” Junglen are now seated in the Amazon Room, and both of their stacks are floating around the starting number of 4.5K. Shaun Deeb is still above average, but has a tough new tablemate in recent bracelet winner Rami “arbianight” Boukai.
