Not So ‘insissint’ by Jessica on 06.04.09, 2:47 am

In Event #7, the $1,500 NLHE event, Mike “inissint” Glasser (pictured left) continues to chip up and sitting towards the top of the leaderboard.  He recently picked up some additional chips when he raised the button at 2K/4K ante  500 and the player in the small blind called.  We missed the action on the A88 flop, but we did see his opponent lead out for 24K on the turn and Glasser call.   After the 3 hit on the river the small blind thought a while before checking.  Mike paused momentarily, eyed his opponent’s stack, and bet 60K, enough to essentially put the other player all-in.  The player folded and Glasser scooped the pot.  While Glasser’s railbirds, which includes Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy and Dan “Wretchy” Martin, they were not satisfied with the speed in which Mike was stacking his chips, mocking him for the long time it was taking him to get his stack in order.  In Glasser’s defense, he does have a lot of chips–277K to be exact, nearly double the average stack.

A player hot on Glasser’s heels is Josh “JDsmith9″ Smith.  Over the course of the last level he has run his 162K all the way up to 265K.  He busted a couple of players to win most of the chips and picked up another pot when he opened in early position to 10K and a player in late position called.  They checked both the flop and the turn as the board came A43.  On the river Josh bet out 15K and is opponent thought briefly before calling and instantly saying, “you win.”  Josh turned up AJ for a pair of aces, the other player mucked, and he did indeed win, pushing his chip stack up to 265K.

Other players remaining in the event include Justin “looshle” Pechie and Michael “martine23″ Martin. Recent eliminations include Shaun Deeb and Ben Fineman.

WSOP Event #9: $1.5K 6-Handed NLHE

Over at the $1.5K 6-handed NLHE event, Darryl “DFish” Fish (pictured right) has been splashing it up at Table 17 in the Amazon Room. We previously mentioned he was at a table with Cody “thugmoneymakr” Slaubaugh and Anthony “D1rtyR1v3r” Nardi but Fish busted Nardi during Level 9. With blinds at 400/800, Fish raised to around 2K and Nardi moved all in for 11.5K. Fish called with AK, which had Nardi’s AT in bad shape. The board held true for Fish and he eliminated one of Pocketfives’ top 10 ranked players.

Fish then got involved in a hand with Seat 6 at his table just minutes later. Fish completed from the small blind and Seat 6 checked from the big blind. On a flop of J97, Fish bet 1K. Seat 6 raised to 2.5K and Fish called. The turn was the 6 and Fish check-called a bet of 5K. Both players checked the river K and Fish flipped over K9 for a pair of kings. His opponent smirked before tossing his cards into the muck. Fish increased his stack from 29K to 79.5K since our last report.

We’re on the money bubble as 145 players remain and the top 144 get paid. With the average stack at 45K, here’s a look at the P5ers still alive in the $1.5K Six-handed NLHE event:

Mark “pghfan987″ Busch - 79K
Cody “thugmoneymakr” Slaubaugh - 62K
David “dpeters18″ Peters - 57K
David “Bakes” Baker - 45K
