Illingworth Out, Sowers Short by Rich on 06.09.09, 12:50 am

At the beginning of the day, seven of the seventeen remaining players in Event #15 were P5ers. Now, only one remains.

A few hands before dinner break, Danny “dannyills” Illingworth (pictured left) open shoved 685K all-in from early position and was called by Thomas Keller in the big blind. They tabled their cards:

Keller:AK
Illingworth A8

Illingworth gained a few outs when the dealer flopped T76, but neither the 3 nor the T improved Danny’s hand and he was knocked out in sixth place earning $109,871.

Not too shabby for turning 21 just a few days ago.

Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers is left alone to carry the P5s banner, and he too took a hit from Keller before dinner break. Thomas raised the action preflop and Sowers made the call in the big blind. The two took a flop of Q99 and Sowers led out for 180K. Keller called and the turn was the K. Mike led again, this time for 310K, and again Thomas called. Sowers slowed when the 3 peeled on the river, and Keller applied some pressure by going all in. Mike was forced to fold, leaving himself with 1.2 million in chips.

The players are now on dinner break and will return at 9:45 p.m. local time.

WSOP 2009 Event #18 10K Limit Omaha 8

Barry Greenstein, Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire and Eric “jakz101″ Crain have all recently busted from Event #18.

Justin “BoostedJ” Smith is moving up in the world. In the past hour he has been very involved, and recently chopped a huge three-way pot to chip up to 180K. Annie Duke and Scott “bigriskky” Clements are seated at adjacent tables. Duke is still above 100K and Clements remains one of the chip leaders with 240K.

The field is down to 41 runners, and the remaining players will play until they either reach a final table or the clock reads 3 a.m.

WSOP 2009 Event #19 $2.5K NLHE 6-Max

The 6-max $2.5K NLHE tourney is down to 270 people from the original 1,068 entrants.

Mike “Gags30” Gagliano (pictured right) raised to 1,025 in first position with the blinds at 200/400 with a 50-chip ante. It folded around to the big blind, who made the call. The flop was A54. The big blind check, and Gagliano bet 1,225, which the big blind called. The turn was the 6. This time the big blind check-called Gagliano’s bet of 2,950. The river was the A. The big blind checked for a third time and Gagliano fired 7,200. The big blind looked pained but eventually decided to call. Gagliano rapped the table and said, “Good call.” He turned over his QT bluff and the big blind tabled A-10. Gagliano was left with just about 18K after the hand.

Here are some other chip counts from around the room:

Jay “SEABEAST” Kinkade – 80K
Brett “threatnasty” Switzer – 70K
Seth “grtwhitehoop” Fischer — 36K
Scott “stpauli111” Hall – 36K
Blair “blur5f6” Hinkle – 28K

Shaun Deeb and Matt “All In At 420” Stout both have big stacks right now.

Deeb is currently seated at the same table as Erick Lindgren. We haven’t caught him in any big hands yet, but we saw him using his big stack nonetheless. The player in first position raised to 1,050. Erick Lindgren called in the next seat as did the player after than and the small blind. Deeb, who was in the big blind, then raised to 5.5K. Everyone else folded and Deeb scooped in the pot while telling the table he had a good hand.

Recent eliminations include Mike “SirWatts” Watson, VaShon “JulianVerse” Watkins, Jesse “JMaster130”Cohen and Thayer “thay3r” Rasmussen.
