After falling to become one of the short stacks, Hunter “The_Hunt_D” Frey (right) was eliminated in a blind vs. blind situation. The two players were all in preflop and Hunter was a favorite to double up with his QJ against the 97 of Brett Richey. A flop of K-9-x gave Richey the lead and the turn and river were no help for Hunter.
The 21st place finish earns Frey $43,235 and brings the field down to only 20 players remaining with an hour of play left in the day. All the players that make it through the last hour of play will return to the Fontana Lounge tomorrow to play down to the final 6 and then those players will return on Friday to play under the lights and cameras of the World Poker Tour televised final table.
Jacobo Fernandez was eliminated just before Frey, finishing in 22nd place after Mike Matusow doubled through him with kings against nines and then Amnon Filippi finished Jacobo off with a flush against top two pair.
Some notables still in include Nick Schulman, Mike Matusow, Clonie Gowen, Justin Young, Robert Mizrachi, Chino Rheem, Hoyt Corkins, Steve Sung and Amnon Filippi.
