Hungry Like de Wolfe by Brett on 06.14.09, 11:13 pm

Scott “BigRiskky” Clements’ bid for a third bracelet fell short during the past hour as the Omaha specialist finished third place in the $5K Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better event. Clements, who had the chip lead going into the final day, lost a number of key pots to Roland de Wolfe that put dent after dent in his chip stack.

It was de Wolfe that eliminated Clements when Scott moved all in preflop with AA64 and was called by A983. Roland locked up the low on the turn and made a flush on the river to send Scott home with $101,063.

De Wolfe has an overwhelming chip lead over Brett Richey as the two battle for the bracelet and $246,616. Congratulations to Scott on yet another fantastic run!

WSOP EVENT #29: $10K NLHE HEADS UP

Before we could even get over to the fourth round of the $10K heads-up event Justin “Boosted J” Smith had already advanced to the next round. Smith defeated Dragan Galic and will play a fourth round match later tonight.

Alec “traheho” Torelli also advanced quickly. His short-stacked opponent pushed all in for his last 75K or so with Q-10 before the flop and Torelli insta-called with his AJ. The board of 94273 didn’t improve either players’ hand and Torelli moved on.

Brock “t soprano” Parker jumped out to an early lead in his match. We missed the pre-flop action on a flop of 953. Bryan Pellegrino checked and Parker bet 4.1K. Pellegrino called and the turn was 7. Pellegrino checked again and Parker bet 20K. Pellegrino made the call and the river was the 6. Both players checked and Parker’s QQ was good enough to beat Pellegrino’s {Ts]9.

After the blinds had gone up to 1.5K/3K, Parker made a pre-flop raise to 8K. The flop was 984. Parker led out for 10K and Pellegrino raised to 38K. Parker moved all in and Pellegrino nodded his head and called the all in for the rest of his chips. Parker turned over K8 while Pellegrino showed QT. Parker was ahead, but the T fell on the turn and the Q came on the river. Pellegrino doubled up to 146K of the 240K in play.

Parker never caught back up and was eliminated by Pellegrino a few levels later.

Leo “SuperfluousMan” Wolpert was victorious in his match against Matthew Woodward. The key hand of the match came with the blinds at 3K/6K. Wolpert moved all in before the flop for 136K and Woodward made the call. Wolpert showed QT while Woodward had 44. The board of KQ8J2 brought plenty of help for Wolpert and he doubled up. Eventually the players were all in again before the flop with Wolpert holding pocket kings to Woodward’s pocket threes. The kings help up for Wolpert and he advanced.

Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer beat Albert Iversen. On the final hand, the action was checke to O’Dwyer on a flop of J96. O’Dwyer bet 30K and Iversen called. The turn was the 4. Iversen checked again and O’Dwyer bet 150K. The bet basically represented all of O’Dwyer and Iversen’s stacks. O’Dwyer looked to only have about 15K behind. Iverson thought for a while before deciding to go all in. O’Dwyer, who had Iverson covered, showed QJ while Iverson showed 92. The turn was the 4 and the river was a safe 7 allowing O’Dwyer to advance.
