We hate to be biased and we’re sure the dealer at the $1.5K NLHE final table had very specific instructions from the powers that be above her, but we have to say we are just a little disappointed in how Jason “JP_OSU” Potter’s (pictured right) last hand transpired. You see, Jason shipped in his last million chips on the button (roughly ten big blinds) and Jeff Chang called from the big blind. When the hands were turned up, Jason realized the bad news that his Q
T
was trailing Chang’s T
T
.
The dealer gave Potter a glimmer of hope when she flipped over the flop and held the door card face up for what felt like a few seconds longer than usual. That door card? The Q
. The dealer then spread the flop to reveal the 4
the crowd gasped as they saw the case T
. Potter got even more hope to improve when the A
on the turn gave him a flush draw, but the 7
on the river failed to help him and he was eliminated in 4th place for $185,444. Congratulations on your first WSOP final table Jason.

Another P5er making a final table appearance is Leo “SuperfluousMan” Wolpert. He just defeated Jamin Stoke to advance to the championship match against John Duthie. The match was initially scheduled to play out tonight, but considering the late hour, the tournament staff decided it was better to push it back until tomorrow to allow Wolpert and Duthie time to rest up after an extremely long day. Wolpert is guaranteed at least $386,636 and could win as much as $625,286 if he can take it down tomorrow.
WSOP 2009 Event #32: $1.5K NLHE
The cream is beginning to rise to the top as every table seems to include a big-name live pro or online superstar. One table we came across had Eric “white_mamba” Ladny, Noah “fouruhaters” Schwartz, JC “PrtyPSux” Alvarado and David “Davidp18″ Peters… just ridiculous.
A table that recently broke had Aaron “ndgrinder59″ Steury (pictured left), Anthony “D1rtyRiv3r” Nardi, and another “interweby-type-guy” (we’ll figure out his real name soon). Nardi had apparently been very active, because “interweby–guy” complained when Nardi raised his big blind. He defended and the two saw an 8
4
2
flop. Nardi bet 3.2K and his nemesis called. Nardi slowed down when the 3
hit the turn and he check-called a bet of 3K. Both checked the 9
river and “interweby-dude” showed 6
6
. Nardi flashed the 4
and was left with a stack of 24K. All were relieved to find out that their table was breaking minutes later.
Scott “BigRiskky” Clements lost most of his stack just before Level 9 but is easing the pain by winning prop bets against his fellow tablemates. The most recent was a $20 wager in which Clements had to shoot an empty water bottle into a trash basket from 20 feet away. Scott quickly lined up, followed through and sank it — seriously, what can’t this guy do?
We watched as Jason “JCarver” Somerville attempted to pull off his own superhuman comeback when he put half of his remaining 1.5K in chips in for the 800 chip big blind. Facing a raise from a player in middle position Somerville called all-in without looking. His opponent flipped up T
T
and Jason turned up one card.
“I have a jack,” he said. He peeked at the other one and added, “and a queen.” When the flop came T
T
5
to leave Jason drawing dead he deadpanned, “well that’s no fun.” A round of handshakes and a jovial woohoo from another player at the table and Somerville was off to catch the tail end of his friend Leo Wolpert’s penultimate heads-up match.
