In an extended heads up battle, Binh Nguyen was able to pull out to a lead of 11 million chips to below 3 million chips and then get his opponent all in while dominated. Andrew Cimpan (right) had the Q
T
against Nguyen’s A
Q
but a Q
T
5
flop took the dominated hand and put it on top and then the T
turn closed out the deal for Cimpan, making the4
river irrelevant and doubling Cimpan up to close the gap and continue the long heads up battle.
Nguyen is still in control with over 9 million chips to Cimpan’s 4.5 million chips, but now one double up would flip the table and Cimpan would be the one with a 2-1 chip lead. So far Nguyen has been able to slowly eat at Andrew’s stack though, without putting himself at a lot of risk and more of that style of play is to be expected. Matt Savage announced a couple hands after Cimpan’s double up that the tournament is now on the 200th hand of the final table, with around 80 of those 200 hands being part of the heads up battle.
