Hazards Takes a Hit by Rich on 06.03.09, 2:25 am

Event #5 $1.5K Pot-Limit Omaha is down to 13 runners in the Amazon Room, and 4 PocketFivers remain. Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier is healthy with roughly 310K in chips, but Matt “Hazards21″ Gianetti (pictured left) just took a hit on this hand:

With the flop reading T75, Giannetti forced Vic Park all-in, and Gianetti held KT92. Park rolled over AKQ5 for just a pair of fives. The turn was a blank, the 6, but the Q on the river hit Park, and he pulled in a 170K chip pot. A few hands later Giannetti lost another 120K when he was bet out of a three-way pot on an ace high flop. Matt made a good fold though, his opponent rolled over A-A-X-X, and filled up on the river. Giannetti now sits with 190K.

Darryl “GoPhish” Dauenhauer was just eliminated in 13th, and will take home $11,584.

Other chip counts are:

Kevin “Kice32″ Iacofano — 400K
Steve “PiKappRaider” Burkholder — 315K

WSOP EVENT #7: $1.5K NLHE

Neil “puggy82” Stewart (pictured right) was seated at the last table to move from the Brasilia Room to the Amazon Room in the $1.5K NLHE event. His table was just moved, but, unfortunately, most of his chips didn’t make the move. With 16K in his stack, Stewert raised to 1900 pre-flop in middle position with the blinds at 400/800/100. He got one caller, and the flop was AJ4. Stewart checked, and his opponent did as well. The turn was the 7. Stewart led out for 3.5K and the other player called. The river was the 3. Stewart checked again, but this time the other player bet around 6.5K. Stewart made the call but was forced to muck his hand when the other player showed KQ.

Just before the players took a break to race the 25 chips off, Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman played a hand that left him asking, “Did that happen? How did that happen?”

According to Jeff “jeffboski” Sluzinky, five players limped into the pot before the flop, including the player in seat one and Freeman. The flop was 943. The player in seat one bet 10K and Freeman put him all in for 18K total. The other play called and Freeman was shocked to see him turn over 9-7 for top pair, “no kicker.” Freeman flipped over KJ for a club flush draw and two over cards. The turn was the Q and the river was the 3. Freeman put both hands on his head and proceeded to ask over and over again if the hand had just really happened. It did. The hand didn’t cripple Freeman, though, and he’s still sitting in the Amazon Room.

Blair Hinkle is seated at the same table as his brother Grant, who won this event last year. Blair recently called a 6.7K all in pre-flop with AT but his opponent showed AQ and the board ran out Q-8-3-8-2.

WSOP EVENT #4: $1K NLHE

The 1K stimulus event, which was supposed to played down to a winner tonight, has instead been stopped with nine players remaining. They will return to play the final table tomorrow at 2 p.m. PST. Dan Heimiller and Steve Sung will have the two biggest stacks at the table.
