Hall Out 7th–In Other News: Break Time. by Jessica on 06.06.09, 10:46 pm

Just minutes after eliminating Michael Dyer in 8th place and cracking the 1 million chip mark, Scott “stpauli111″ Hall (pictured left) was sent home in 7th at the hands of chip leader Peter Rho. With blinds at 20K/40K with a 5K ante, Rho raised to 105K in the cutoff and it folded over to Hall in the big blind, who made it 360K. Rho put in a four-bet to 1.5 million and Hall called all in.

It was a classic race situation for the chip lead, Hall holding AK and Rho with QQ.

The Q in the door all but put an end to Hall’s life and the 3 on the turn gave Rho a full house, sending Hall home with $76,390

Congratulations to 21-year-old Scott “stpauli111″ Hall on his first World Series of Poker final table! We’re sure there will be more to come.

WSOP Event #15: $5K NLHE

Players in the $5K NLHE event are on dinner break and should be back with the cards in the air around 8:30PM PT.  Before they headed out for some much needed grub (we hope O’Dwyer and Co’s Thai food arrived on time btw), we spotted Jason “JCarver” Somerville with quite a few more chips than he had an hour ago.  He kindly took the time to give us the quick rundown of how he shot from 20K to 75K, mostly from one particular hand:

Jason told us that Jason and two other players saw a flop of 10-4-4 in a raised pot and the initial raiser shoved all-in as the first player to act.  The second player in the hand flat calls and Jason put in a sizeable raise to 12K.  The second player then reraised all-in and Somerville called with 34 for trip fours.  The second player held A-10 and we must admit, we missed what the initial raiser’s hand was, but the second player turned up A-10 for top pair.  The turn was a blank and the river was a four to make Jason quads and win him a 70K pot.

Here are as many chip counts as we could grab as players filed out on the dinner break:
