Greenstein Broils Haddox in $10K PLHE Event by Brett on 06.26.09, 7:41 pm

Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein is plowing through the $2.5K Mixed Hold ‘em final table. After virtually eliminating Zach Humphrey when his A8 held up against JT (leaving Humphrey with just 10K), Greenstein knocked out Hassan Habib and Randy “Randers” Haddox in 8th and 7th place, respectively, within a matter of minutes.

Habib worked with a short stack much of yesterday and today and finally went out in the limit round. Greenstein raised to 50K, Habib reraised to 75K and Greenstein called. The flop brought J83 and Greenstein bet enough to put Habib in. Hassan called with AT, which was behind Barry’s J9. The turn and river bricked for Habib and he was sent to the rail with $30,641.

Haddox lost a big pot in the limit round to Greenstein’s pocket kings and then made his exit in the no limit round. It wasn’t pretty: Greenstein raised to 55K, Haddox moved all in for his last 145K and Greeinstein called:

Haddox: AK
Greenstein: KJ

The flop 955 was kind to Haddox but a crushing J hit the turn to give Barry the commanding lead in the hand. The 7 river was no help to Haddox, who earned $36,084 for his three days of work.

There are now five players remaining in the tournament. Greenstein is second in chips with 1.05 million.

WSOP 2009 Event #48: $1.5K PLO Hi/Lo

The money bubble has bursted in the $1.5K Pot Litmit Omaha Hi/Lo event and players have gone on a 20-minute break. Stewart “StuMan23″ Yancik made it into the money but was the first player to hit the rail, finishing 72nd for $2,953. Aaron “gotcha55″ Kanter, Jesse “JMaster30″ Cohen and Trevor “DenYoungGun” Reader are still alive in the tournament. Reader picked up a cash in his first ever WSOP event.

WSOP 2009 Event #49: $50K HORSE

They’re still playing in level two of the $50K HORSE event thanks to the longer 90-minute level used for this tournament. The blinds for level two are 500/1000 with limits of 1K/2K. The ante is 200 and the bring in is 300.

Corey Zeidman (pictured right) lost some chips to David Grey during the last round of Stud Hi-Low. There had already been plenty of action when we walked up to the table on 6th street. The hands:

Grey: X-X-6527-X
Zeidman: X-X-58Q2-X

Zeidman bet on sixth street and Grey called. Then, on seventh street, Zeidman checked and Grey bet. Zeidman made the call but was forced to muck his hand when Grey revealed his KK7 for two pair, kings and sevens, and a king low.

Scott “BigRiskky” Clements faired a little better in Stud Hi-Low. He was able to pot with his A9TQ on board and 25-X in the hole to his opponents 3K8A on board and 33-X in the hole. Clements had bet on fourth street and got a call. Both players check fifth street. Clements then called bets on sixth and seventh streets before the cards were turned up.

Jon “PearlJammer” Turner raised before the flop during a round of limit hold’em and got one caller. The flop was 663. The player in seat three checked and Turner made a bet. The other player called and the turn was the J. Seat three led out this time and Turner called. The river was the 8. Seat three made another bet and Turner called.

“Got an eight,” said Turner’s opponent, prompting Turner to roll his eyes before mucking his hand.
