WSOP EVENT #51: $1.5K NLHE
Josh “SDouble” Schlein (pictured at left) raised to 37K during the final round of play for the night in the $1.5K NLHE event. The player in the big blind, who — like Schlein — sported a big stack, made the call. Both players checked the flop of 8
8

before seeing the Q
on the turn. The other player bet 45K and Schlein made the call. The river was the 3
. The big blind thought for a bit before betting 110K. It was Schlein’s time to think. He contemplated his options for a while before making the call. His opponent mucked immediately and Schlein turned over A
J
for ace high.
“Wow,” the other player said. “Very nice call, sir.”
On the very last hand of the evening, a player open shoved 150K under the gun and action folded to Schlein in the big blind. Josh sweated his cards and made the call, tabling J
J
. His opponent looked at Schlein’s hand but did not turn his over. Instead, he rubbed the two cards on the felt.
“C’mon,” Josh poked. “Show your two aces.” His opponent slowly turned over two red queens. “Or…slow roll me…,” Schlein said.
A flock of people surrounded the table, and they all gasped when the flop fell A
J
9
. The dealer wrapped the table, burned a card and proceeded to spike the Q
on the turn. The player holding queens shouted and so too did his fans. The 2
on the river was meaningless and Josh lost the pot.
His opponent hailed from Germany and apparently did not know what a slow-roll was. While the players were bagging and tagging, Josh explained to him why he was a little upset. Schlein still has a big stack, ending the night with 875K.
Owen “ocrowe” Crowe (1,002,500) and Alex Jacob (274K) will also return tomorrow at 1 p.m. to play down from the 30 remaining players to a winner.
