Jeff “ActionJeff” Garza is on his way out of the Rio. Garza, whose stack had been dwindling since the dinner break, got the last of his chips in preflop with A
Q
but found himself in trouble against the A
K
of Phil Galfond. The board ran out 8

and Garza was eliminated.
David “Bakes” Baker let out a sigh of relief after chopping a pot worth more than 125K with Kido Pham shortly after Garza busted. Baker, Pham and Galfond saw a flop of 8

. Pham led out with a bet and Baker raised to 22K. Galfond folded and Pham deliberated for a few moments, shaking his head in angst, and then moved all in for 44K more. Baker called, saying of his bet ”I feel like that was a bluff.” Pham’s T

was a 6-1 favorite against Baker’s 8

, but the J
on the turn and A
on the river split the pot between the two players.
Chris “moorman1″ Moorman and Yevgeniy “atimos” Timoshenko are the two short stacks at their table, but both are staying fairly active. Moorman opened a couple of pots in late position late in Level 7, but was unable to take down any pots. With the blinds at 1K/2K ante 200 he opened to 5.5K from the cutoff and Dani “Ansky” Stern called from the small blind while Gavin Griffin called out of the big blind. The trio checked the 9

flop and when Ansky led out after the 4
fell on the turn both Griffin and Moorman were forced to fold. The very next hand Moorman raised to 5.5K but folded to a hefty reraise from Griffin out of the small blind. While Griffin has since been eliminated, Moorman is still hanging in there with 65K in chips.
Timoshenko was down to his last 40K or so before he got involved in a hand with JC Tran. We missed the preflop and flop action but we did see Tran check the turn to Timoshenko with the board reading A
Q
9

, Timoshenko bet 7.3K from late position and Tran called. The river was the 9
and Tran checked once again. Timoshenko moved all-in for his last 26.7K and Tran thought for a minute or two before folding. After the hand Timoshenko was up to around 52K.
