Garza Busts Peters, 3 Levels Down by Court on 02.21.09, 9:24 pm

After three levels of play the starting total of 696 players has been reduced to 599 players who will return from break to play the 100 / 200 blind level before going on dinner break at 6:45pm local time.  David “DavidP18″ Peters (right) was among the eliminations during the third level of play, the last of his chips going to Jeff “ActionJeff” Garza. So many players started the day that even the large upstairs room at the Commerce was not enough to hold everyone and the outside tent had to be put into service.

The tables in the tent have now been broken and everyone has moved into the main room.  Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman and Randy “Randers” Haddox were among the last of the players to make it from the tent into the main room.  Freeman ended up in the seat to the immediate right of Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter and a few seats to the left of Matt “Mattg1983″ Graham.

David Peters saw his stack fall to only 4,275 and after he brought it in for a raise from the button Garza put out enough to cover the rest of David’s stack.  Peters called and the two were in a race, with the A-T of Peters up against the pocket threes for Garza.  A board of K-9-7-K-5 did not improve David’s hand and left him eliminated for the tournament, while opening up a seat for one of the players out in the tent.

Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin made a good call on the river of a board reading K438A.  Baldwin was faced with a 3,400 chip bet and after a couple of moments of thought he tossed in the chips to make the call.  His opponent said something along the lines of “you must have king jack.”  When Eric turned over his hand that was exactly what he had, the KJ.  The other player showed the 62 for a busted draw and Eric raked in the pot.  Chris “cdbr3799″ Dombrowski was able to grab a small pot after a 500 chip bet on the J74 bet and then take the pot with continued aggression on the 7 turn.

Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers has been his usual up and down self, but at last check he was a little above the 20k starting stack.
