Garrity bgittin Home by Jessica on 07.10.09, 7:50 pm

We didn’t catch up with this hand until the turn but the winning player filled us in on the details.

Brandon “bgitty” Garrity (pictured left) and two other players saw a flop of K95 in a raised pot. All three players checked to the flop and the turn was the 2. One player in the hand bet 9K. Garrity called called and the player in seat nine raised to 35K. The original better folded and Garrity raised to 65K. Seat nine called and the river was the 5. Seat nine checked and Garrity quickly moved all in for 177. 3K. The other player had him covered, but the shove represented a big portion of seat nine’s stack of 230K or so.

“I have such a bad feeling right now,” seat nine said. “I have a huge hand.”

He went on to comment about how Garrity didn’t look nervous at all, but said, “I don’t see any way I can fold this hand.”

He then told Garrity he had a small full house and that he was thinking about flipping a coin to help make his decision.

Garrity meanwhile sat completely still, even as two ESPN cameras made their way to the table. He shuffled a small stack of black chips and stared at the board for about 10 mintues before his opponent finally made the call.

Garrity turned over A9 and his relieved opponent tabled 22. Garrity quickly got up from his chair and made his way out of the mostly empty Amazon Room, eliminated from the Main Event.

We missed the majority of the action in the following hand with Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul (pictured right) as well, but the antics on the river were too good not to report. In what was already a sizeable pot, the player in the big blind checked to Saul on a board reading Q926. Saul bet out in the vicinity of 30K and his opponent called. The river was the 3 and the other player checked again. Kevin counted out 50K (two stacks of yellow and a stack of blue) and pulled them away from his stack, but not forward into the pot. He stared at the 50K momentarily and his opponent began counting his chips. Kevin then counted out an additional 20K and added it to the 50K pile. He straightened the stack of chips, placed his hands on the chips about to push them forward, and before he could move them, the other player began to count out 70K as if he were going to call. Saul stopped, took his hands off the chips, and started to think again. He added an additional 25K to the bet, leaving only 34K behind and emphatically pushed it in the middle.

The extra 25K appeared to make all the difference in the world, as the other player thought a minute or two before folding.

Frank “Frank1The1Tank” Calo flagged us down in the hallway to tell us about his brutal bust-out hand. According to Calo a woman opened to to 4K and Frank put in a third bet to 12.3K with two kings. A player on the button moved all in for 120K and action folded to Alex Kostritsyn in the big blind. Calo explained that Kostritsyn tanked for upwards to five minutes, counting everyone’s stacks before moving all in too. The original raiser folded and action was back on Frank. Calo told us he tanked for a long time, but eventually called only to see both of his opponents held aces. The pot was worth well over 400K but Frank couldn’t improve his hand and his stack was chopped.

With about 30K already in the pot, Isaac “westmenloaa” Baron (pictured left) was all in for about 70K against David “doubledave22” D’Alesandro. D’Alesandro had about 150K behind and, after a minute or two of painful consideration, he made the call. Baron showed JJ and D’Alesandro showed AQ.

“Good luck,” D’Alesandro said.

“Thanks, you, too,” Baron replied.

The board then ran out KT349. Baron doubled up while D’Alesandro dropped down to about 80K.

Billy “Patrolman35″ Kopp had been holding steady at around 280K for most of the afternoon, but he took a bit of a hit in a situation eerily similar to Baron’s and d’Alesandro’s when he and a shorter stack got it all-in preflop with Billy holding JJ to the other player’s AQ. Kopp’s jacks looked good on the 755 flop and better after a 9 fell on the turn. The river was the A though, giving the other player the best hand and the 85K pot. Billy is still well above average with 230K.

Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania got a lucky double up when he moved all-in at the 800/1,600 ante 200 blind level for his last 25K and another player called him. When she saw that Mohsin held A-J to her pocket aces she shouted out, “I like it!” Charania made the estute observation after the hand, that he isn’t really sure what hand the woman didn’t want to see, but that is neither here nor there. The flop came K-Q-X, the turn was a 9, and Mohsin hit a 10 on the river to make a Broadway straight and double up to 54.6K.
