FouTight Off To Play $1/$2 by Rachel on 07.10.09, 9:05 pm

Stephane “FouTight” Bisson moved all-in for his last 13.3K from the button with the blinds at 1K/2K ante 300 and then proceeded to beg.

“Just muck it,” he told the small blind.  “If you have a better hand I’ll get there.”  It looked as though the player was about to fold, but right as Stephane said “That’s the spirit,” the other player set the chips out to call.

“That’s the wrong spirit,” Bisson commented.  However, apparently once one was in, he was more than happy for the big blind to come along and started motioning at the player to come on in the pot.  The big blind elected to pass and the hands were turned up.  Bisson held QJ while the small blind had K3.  As the flop came down QQ9 Stephane yelled out “Boom!”  The 9 on the turn ensured his double up and he scooped the 28K pot.  As he was stacking his chips, he turned to his friends on the rail and said, “I guess drunk $1/$2 will have to wait.”  It didn’t have to wait too long though, as he was eliminated shortly thereafter.

Blair Rodman picked up a very nice pot when a player opened to a 4K raise and he called out of the small blind.  The big blind called as well and the trio saw a flop of Q44.  Rodman and the big blind checked to the initial raiser, who bet 15K.  Rodman, who had both players easily covered, moved all-in, the big blind folded, and the other player called his last 55K with AQ.  Rodman showed 47 and the turn and river ran out 39 respectively to give him the pot and send him up to 290K.

We have to admit that we missed a lot of the action that sent Craig “craigthedeac” Boyd’s chip stack from 125K to 425K.  We wandered over when the ESPN cameras were paged and saw Craig holding QQ to another player’s 77 on a KT4.  We’re not sure if the players got it all in preflpo or on the flop, but the queens held as the board ran out 99 to double him up to 275K.  We turned our backs for five minutes and when we came back, presto chango, there was Craig with 425K and signing the filming release from the ESPN crew.

Billy “Patrolman35″ Kopp cracked the half a million chip mark this past level after a couple of big hands including the following altercation.  A player raised in middle position and Billy and another player called.  All three players checked the K-54 flop and the initial raiserled out for 10K when the 8 hit on the turn.  The other player in the hand folded and Kopp raised to 30K.  The other player then reraised to 60K total and Kopp called.  The river {7d] completed the flush draw and Billy’s opponent checked.  Billy bet out 30K and the other player check-raised to 100K total.  Kopp called and showed pocket eights for a set of eights while the other player had A-8 for just a pair of eights.  Kopp now has 516K.

Without drawing much attention to themselves so far today, a couple other PocketFivers have built up big stacks as well. Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich has about 420K in front of him, Nick “fu_15″ Maimone has about 470K.

We missed the previous action but Kyle “dumpingKGB” Brossia and another player had both put 11.3K into the pot on a flop of 962. The turn was teh 6. Brossia led out for 21.5K and seat six called. The river was the J. Brossia moved all in and his opponent, who was covered by the shove, called after a short while. Brossia rapped the table and his opponent turned over 77 to take the pot, while Brossia slipped to about 16K.

Josh “brikdog24″ Brikis took a hit to his stack recently courtesy of a bad beat from Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger. According to Brikis, he raised to 4.1K preflop with A-K and Lichtenberger re-raised to 12.5K from the big blind. Brikis made it 35K and Lichtenberger moved all in for about 110K. Brikis called and Lichtenberger showed A-Q. However, a queen came on the flop and Brikis slipped to 65K while Lichtenberger doubled up. Brikis has doubled up since, though, and now has 126K.

Ben “98 Mute” Yerushalaim’s run in the Main Event has come to an end. Working with a short stack for most of the tournament, Yerushalaim told us he was thrilled to pick up pocket queens at the end of Level 11. Unfortunately a player at his table picked up pocket aces, and after all of Ben’s chips went in preflop he was unable to improve. “Maybe next year,” he said to us as he made his way out of the Amazon Room.”

Jason Gray was another who spent of of the Main Event with a short stack and he was sent home just two tables away. Gray, with around 35K, raised from under the gun and the player in the small blind reraised. Gray committed the rest of his stack and he was at risk with A-Q against the other player’s 10-9. His opponent managed to pair one of his hole cards and Gray was eliminated.
