Mohsin “chicagocards1” Charania (pictured right) has more chips than he started with today in the in $5K NLHE six-max event, but he told us that if not for a two-outer on the river he’d have almost 100K by now.
Charania said he raised to 525 with pocket fours with the blinds at 100/200 and the player to his left re-raised to 1,525. It folded back around to Charania and he called. The flop was 6-6-4 with two clubs. Charania checked and the other player bet 2.3K. Charania raised to 5.8K and the other player called. The turn was a non-club 8. Charania asked the guy how much he had and got an answer of 29K. Charania then shoved and the other player eventually called and showed kings. You know the rest. A king came on the river and, instead of a 98K stack, Charania has 19K.
Andy “BKiCe” Seth took a smaller hit to his stack. He had another player all in holding A
K
to the other player’s A

. The flop of Q

was trouble for Seth and he couldn’t catch up. The cost was 9.7K out of his stack, but he was left with around 30K.
We walked up to the table where Seth “grtwhitehoop” Fischer’s sitting in time to see him call seat four’s bet of 4,550 on a flop of 6

. The turn was the 3
. Seat four moved all in for his last 10.8K. Fischer tossed his hands into the air and thought about what to do. If he called and lost he would be down to just a few thousand chips. He eventually decided to fold, flashing his pocket queens before tossing them into the muck.
Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer (pictured left)was put to a decision for all his chips. O’Dwyer check-called a bet of 725 on a flop of A

. He then checked again when the 6
came on the turn. The other player bet 4.3K, which was enough to put O’Dwyer all in, and he laid his hand down.
With the board reading Q

, Stewart “StuMan123″ Yancik raised to 2.6K on the turn after the player in seat six had bet 700. The player in seat three called and seat six got out of the way. The river was the 4
. Yancik bet 3.6K and was quickly called. He turned over 6

for a full house and scooped the pot to move over 20K in chips.
In a battle of the blinds, Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson bet 950 after a flop of Q

. Both players then checked the A
on the turn. The river was the 8
. Johnson led out for 2,550 and the other player raised to 5.1K. It wasn’t clear if the man mean to raise because of how he put in the chips, one orange and one yellow, without saying anything but he assured the dealer and Johnson that he had raised on purpose. Johnson still made the call but mucked when his opponent turned over K

WSOP 2009 Event #54: $1.5K NLHE
We’ve given Joe “Dyzalot” Morneau a lot of coverage this summer. But we can’t help it. It seems like every time we walk by his table he’s putting chips into the pot. Pocketfives’ favorite freedom defender from New Hampshire vaulted to the top of the Event 54 leaderboard during the past level. Here’s how it went down:
With blinds at 600/1200 a player raised to 2.8K from the hijack and Morneau made it 6.8K to go. His opponent then 4-bet to 14.4K and Morneau moved all in, having his opponent covered. After a few minutes of deep thought the other player called with T

needed some help and it appeared in with door with the A

flop. Joe avoided a ten on the turn and river and increased his stack to 175K, which at the time appreared to be the biggest stack in the room.
The bubble just bursted and the remaining 297 players are guaranteed a minimum of $2,769. We’ll have a full list of chip counts for you in our next update.
