Floor! by Rich on 06.04.09, 7:06 pm

Two separate incidents including PocketFivers have occurred on the floor of the Amazon Room within the past hour, and both required a floorman.

The first happened in a three way pot including Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby (pictured left). A player under the gun raised to 400, with the blinds at 75/150, and received one call from an opponent on the button. Hamby decided to increase the action, raising from the small blind to 1725. The original raiser then commented that he “Hoped his ladies were good,” and shipped his stack in the middle. The player on the button promptly called for the floor, accusing the man of revealing his hand.

A floorman arrived, and it was determined that, if the mad indeed have queens, he would receive a penalty. The player on the button folded, and Hamby quickly committed his stack, turning over AK. His opponent did not have queens, rather a smaller pair: TT. “I am the worst,” announced the player on the button. The race ended fairly quickly, as the dealer flopped AK3. The turn and river blanked 5-7, and Jared scooped the pot more than doubling to 12.5K.

No penalty was given because, as one woman put it so perfectly at the table, “Lying is OK in this game.”

Shannon Shorr needed the floor at a nearby table as well. With the board reading T9777 Shorr bet 3600, and his opponent called by splashing a rainbow assortment of chips in the middle. Shannon turned over 99 for a full house, and his opponent mucked. Shorr then looked at the pot and insisted the dealer count it to see if his player had matched his river bet. The floor was called over to observe, and after some quick calculations it appeared that the player had shorted Shannon. The mix-up was fixed and, again, no penalty was issued.

Noah “fouruhaters” Schwartz was at the table with Shorr, but was busted by him soon after the problematic pot. Noah was short, and Shannon informed us they got it all in after the turn with the board reading 8-5-2-6. Schwartz was behind with 6-4 against Shorr’s 9-8, and missed when the river was a 7. Shannon sports a 15K stack.

Sitting on a short stack, Luke “IWEARGOGGLES” Staudenmaier shipped all his chips in the middle in the Amazon Room and his raise was isolated from the blinds. Staudenmaier knew he was behind when he turned over AQ, and his concerns were confirmed when the man in the blinds tabled AK. The flop was very friendly though, coming 622. Luke’s extra outs came through, and the 6 on the turn gave both players the same hand: sixes and deuces with an ace kicker. The river was a brick, the 3, and the players chopped the pot. Staudenmaier is still clinging on with 2.2K in chips.

WSOP 2009 Event #7: $1.5K NLHE

Over in Event #7, the $1.5K NLHE, the two P5ers we’ve been following in the event are seated at the same table. Mark “markysals1″ Salinaro and Michael “Martine23″ Martin(pictured right) are seated in the 9 and 2 seats respectively and doing there best to survive to the end of this day and win their first WSOP bracelet. We saw Mark make some progress during a hand at the 8K/16K ante 2K level. We missed the preflop action, but it seems likely that Jeremy Joseph raised from the button and Mark defended out of the small blind. Mark checked to Joseph on the KT6 flop and the other player bet 60K. Mark called and the two saw the turn, which was the 4. Salinaro then check-called an 80K bet from Joseph. The river was the J and Mark led out for 107K, prompting Jeremy to quickly fold. After the hand, Mark was up to 850K. He appears to have doubled up again since then and is now the chip leader with 1.6 million. Martin is sitting on 160K with 16 players remaining.

WSOP 2009 Event #10: $2.5K PL Hold’em/Omaha

Day Two of the HA event has been going on for a couple of hours and we’ve lost several P5ers along the way including Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul, Vivek, “psyduck” Rajkumar, Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin, and Scott “emptyseat88″ Fischman.

Jeff “yellowsub” Williams (pictured left) is here for Day 2 of Event #10, but he just suffered a small hit. Williams led out for 5600 with the board reading AKT. His opponent called, and they both checked when the 6 turned. The river brought the K, pairing the board, and again both players checked. Jeff showed A8, but was defeated when his opponent showed AQ. Williams is still healthy though, sitting with over 50K in chips.

Here are the chip counts of some of the P5ers remaining we saw on a quick pass through the 70 or so players left in the field:

Jamie “thecronic420″ Rosen - 114K
Andy “BKiCe” Seth - 63K
Rami “arbianight” Boukai - 57K
Amit “amak316″ Makhija - 30K
Jamie “TheNew” Robbins - 18K
Joe “ender555″ Ebanks - 15K

WSOP 2009 Event #9: $1.5K NLHE 6-Max

Over in the 6-Handed NLHE event we saw early exits from Matt “All In At 420″ Stout, Mark “pghfan987″ Busch and Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh, but David “Bakes” Baker, David “DavidP18″ Peters, David “”the9deuce” Squires, Darryl “DFish” Fish, and Don “donkcrusher” Stevens are all still alive as the field dwindles to 77 players.
