At first, the final table of the $10K PLHE event has been kind to the short-stack. Eugene Todd Bro doubled up at the hands of Eric “Basebaldy” Baldwin when his pocket nines held against Baldwin’s KQ. Todd’s stack bumped up to over half a million chips while Baldwin’s dipped to a million.

Then, a short-stacked Jason Lester doubled through JC “PrtyPSux” Alvarado when Alvarado opened for a pot-sized raise from the small blind with the blinds at 20K/40K and Lester moved all-in from the big blind for an additional 175K. JC called with 9T, which was trailing Lester’s pocket aces. The aces held while the board ran out 7-4-3-K-8 to push Lester up to 600K and drop Alvardo below 400K.

The trend stopped with Darryll “DFish” Fish (pictured right) though. Fish and Alvarado, the second shortest stack at the table, got it all-in preflop with JC holding pocket sevens to Darryll’s A-8. The sevens held on the J94Q2 and Fish was eliminated in 9th place, earning $77,136 for his first WSOP final table finish. Meanwhile, Alvarado is up to 580K but he and Lester are still the short stacks at the table.

WSOP 2009 Event #48: $1.5K PLO H/L

Over at the $1.5K PLO Hi-Low event, Scott “thefuture021″ Bell got his last 4K or so into the middle holding QT99 on a flop of 932. Bell’s set of nines was ahead of his opponent’s A733. He was probably wary of his the other player’s low draw, but he certainly couldn’t have expected the 3 to fall on the turn and give his opponent quad threes. The river was the 8 and Bell had to hit the rail.

Steve “whitealroker” Bent has been moved to the same table as Darryl “GoPhish” Dauenhauer. Bent currently has 5.5K while Dauenhauer told us he recently took a big hit and is down to 2K.

Jason “treysfull21” Mercier gave us a sigh as we caught him on his way out of the tournament area after he busted.
Here are some additional chip counts from the field as play in Level Four was winding down:

WSOP 2009 Event #46: $2.5K Mixed Hold’em

The money bubble has burst in the $2.5K Mixed Hold’em event. Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire was one of three people eliminated on the same hand with just one player needing to bust before the money was reached. Devonshire moved his short stack in with A-Q but couldn’t beat the A-K of Randy “Randers” Haddox. He and the other two players eliminated split the 53rd and 54th place prize money.

WSOP 2009 Event #46: $2.5K Omaha H/L

James “Flushy” Dempsey (14th) and Jeff “droogy” Tunkel (13th) have been eliminated. Josh “SDouble” Schlein is currently the chip leader with ten players remaining.
