In the span of a dozen hands and a flurry of action three players were eliminated and the final table was set here in Biloxi.
First, Allen “AawwNutz” Carter doubled through Jeff Coutroulis when he flopped a set of fives on a 6
5
2
board and got it all-in against Coutroulis’ pocket nines. That hand put Carter’s chip stack at 1.7 million and left Coutroulis with 266K.
A few hands later Coutroulis was eliminated by the hands of Tyler “Tydean” Smith (pictured left). With the blinds at 15K/30K ante 4K Coutroulis moved all-in for his remaining 250K or so and Smith reraised all-in behind him. Coutroulis’ A
4
was no match for Smith’s A
Q
and he was eliminated in 9th place.
Smith’s next victim was Tony Cousineau. The two got it all in preflop with Smith holding pocket nines to Cousineau’s A-K and the board failed to improve Tony’s hand. He takes home $52,745 for his 8th place finish.
The last player to fall was Vanessa Rousso who’s A-K failed to best Soheil Shamseddin’s pocket tens. This marks the second time Rousso has finished 7th in a WPT televised event. Moreover, the last time the WPT visited the Beau Rivage, Rousso had another deep run that ended just shy of the final table when she was eliminated in 10th place.
